𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌𝐄: EMPOWERING OUR YOUTH FOR GOOD GOVERNACE AND ANTI- CORRUPTION
“𝐏𝐏𝐕𝐑 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓“
We the Officers and Members of the People Power Volunteers for Reforms Inc, gather here today in celebration of our 15th year Anniversary do hereby state:
We laud the achievements of our volunteer collective services in the delivery of basic services In our respective communities, contributing to the over-all national anti poverty campaigns. Services such as relief and rehabilitation in disasters, medical missions, feeding programs and school supplies distributions; Capacity building and empowerment of our youth, women; and human rights defenders, citizens participation and political awareness.
We reiterate our commitment to the pillars of PPVR, Bantay, Tulay, Gabay and Ka-agapay as our guiding thrusts and directions in all our work, to promote good governance, people empowerment and participation.
We are concerned at the high political tensions obtaining in our country today. The shocking expose of trillions of pesos of our taxes lost in the "Flood Control" allegedly in conspiracy of legislators, government agencies, contractors and more. The patronage system, enhanced by the " clique" system of dynasties that manipulate regulations and laws, use power for personal gains, commit grave abuse of discretion and rub the poor of much needed programs and services.
We are alarmed at rumors of destabilization and "coups", which cause uncertainty among our foreign investors and create unfavorable economic environment. Already our peso has dropped to almost P 60 to the dollar.
We support the Bills on Anti -Dynasty and CHR Charter filled in the House and the Senate, we ask our legislators to review the Party list Law and pass the Freedom for Information Law { FOI] as necessary for the fight against corruption.
We stand steadfast on our fight for truth and justice and good governance as we advocate transparency, accountability, prosecutors for the perpetrators on corruption. Resignation. Is not the solution, justice must be served.
We lament at the suffering of millions of Filipinos victims of the resent earthquakes and typhoons. The trillion pesos lost in the flood control would have been much needed funds to rebuild homes, farms, provide food, and other basic commodities for the victims, rather than once more beg from our foreign friends.
We denounce the labels made on our political positions, we originated from the "yellow" tag that stand for freedom and democracy, a tag that was demonized by the Dutertes as they could not find fault on our causes. We shall always be "yellow" and adhere to all that it stands for.
We commit to pursue our individual and collective initiatives and contribution towards a free, open, democratic elections that will ensure the elections of meritorious and qualified candidates in the forthcoming presidential elections in 2028.
We pin our hope in the youth of our land, we shall seek out reach out to more, and lead the struggles for a better country for all.
