While the alignment of higher education with the 𝗞–𝟭𝟮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 and outcomes-based education may appear progressive, the significant 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 of GE courses, particularly in the 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀, threaten the very purpose of 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀.

𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 are not mere academic requirements that can simply be compressed or transferred to Senior High School. Courses such as 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 play a vital role in developing students who are 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱, 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴.

Education should not be reduced solely to preparing students for employment. Universities must produce not only skilled professionals but also responsible citizens who can engage with social realities, uphold democratic values, and contribute to nation-building. Weakening the humanities and social sciences risks creating graduates who may be technically competent yet detached from history, culture, and civic responsibility.

Ang edukasyon ay hindi lamang para sa paggawa ng manggagawa para sa industriya. Ito ay dapat magsilbing kasangkapan upang mamulat ang mamamayan sa katotohanan, magsuri sa lipunan, at manindigan laban sa pang-aapi at kawalang-katarungan. Sa panahon ng disimpormasyon at pagbaluktot sa kasaysayan, lalong mahalaga ang mga asignaturang humuhubog sa kamalayang panlipunan, makabayang pag-iisip, at demokratikong pagpapahalaga.

Hindi dapat maging pabrika ng diploma ang mga pamantasan. Ang tunay na edukasyon ay humuhubog ng mga mamamayang may kakayahang mag-isip nang malaya, kumilala sa katotohanan, at manindigan para sa hustisya at demokrasya.

Dahil dito, nananawagan ang 𝗣𝗻𝗖 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 sa mga mag-aaral, g**o, akademiko, at lahat ng mamamayan na huwag manatiling tahimik sa harap ng mga polisiyang unti-unting nagpapahina sa diwa ng edukasyon. Ang laban para sa General Education ay hindi lamang usapin ng pagpapanatili ng mga asignatura sa kolehiyo. Ito ay laban para sa kinabukasan ng isang bayang may kakayahang mag-isip nang malaya, kumilala sa katotohanan, at lumaban para sa hustisya at demokrasya.

𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟬 serves as a solemn reminder of one of the most controversial and heartbreaking moments in Philippine history—𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿é𝘀 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼. Known as one of the founders of the 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗻 and often recognized as the “𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻,” Andrés Bonifacio dedicated his life to the fight for freedom against Spanish colonial rule. Yet despite his contributions to the revolutionary movement, his life came to a tragic end not at the hands of foreign colonizers, but through internal conflict within the revolution itself. ⚔️🩸

Following tensions between rival factions during the Philippine Revolution, Bonifacio faced accusations of 𝘀𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 after disputes surrounding the 𝗧𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and the leadership of the revolutionary government. These events eventually led to his arrest, trial, and conviction alongside his brother Procopio. ⚔️ 📜

The trial and eventual ex*****on of the Bonifacio brothers reflected the growing divisions within the revolutionary movement during a critical period of the struggle for independence. Minsan ka na rin bang napaisip kung saan at paano nagkakaroon ng hain sa inyong hapag? 🍽️

Higit sa init ng pagkain, ang hapag ay pinagdurugtong ng mga kamay na hindi natin nakikita mula sa magsasakang yumuyuko sa ilalim ng tirik na araw, hanggang sa manggagawang nagpaandar ng makinarya sa madaling-araw.

Ang hapag ay ang ating kolektibong ambag; ito ang buhay na ugnayan ng lipunan.

Nawa sa bawat pag-upo natin sa hapag ay gunitain natin ang ating mga manggagawa. Sapagkat ang hapag ay hindi lamang isang kasangkapan o lugar ng pagsasalo; ito ay isang buhay na saksi sa ugnayan ng bawat Pilipino.

Hindi natatapos sa ihinahaing pagkain ang depinisyon ng hapag. Ito ay ang bawat kalsadang nilatag ng mga construction worker, ang bawat kaisipang hinubog ng mga g**o, at ang bawat buhay na sinagip ng mga mediko. Ang hapag ay ang mismong bansa isang malawak na lamesa kung saan ang lahat ay dapat may puwesto, at walang sinumang dapat magutom.

Sa hapag ng lipunan, bawat kamay ay may ambag. Mula sa magsasakang nagpunla sa putikan hanggang sa manggagawang nagpapatakbo ng makinarya sa pabrika, ang kanilang mga kamay ang nag-uugnay sa ating mga pangangailangan at sa ating mga pangarap.

Ngunit ang hapag na ito ay mananatiling pilay hangga’t may mga kamay na kulang ang tinatanggap kapalit ng kanilang hapo.

Ang pagkilala sa manggagawa ay hindi dapat nagtatapos sa pasasalamat; ito ay dapat humantong sa pagtiyak na ang mga nagpapakain sa bansa ay may sapat din na pagkain sa sarili nilang mga hapag.
