Cabarroguis, Quirino โ In a heartfelt celebration of community involvement and educational empowerment, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Department of Quirino State University โ Cabarroguis Campus brought its extension initiative, PROJECT SAVE: Systematized Accumulation for Valuable Earning, to Eden Integrated School in Barangay Eden. Conducted in partnership with BSBA alumni and the Go Quirinians Farmers Cooperative, the program aimed to nurture early financial literacy among young learners and promote a culture of saving, sharing, and sustainable living. Generous donationsโincluding coin banks, notebooks, pencils, and slippersโfrom alumni Jonathan A. Bergante and Ms. Leonor Sabado helped bring the programโs objectives to life.
PROJECT SAVE champions the belief that good saving habits begin at a young age. Through engaging workshops for children and hands-on training for parents, the program translated financial concepts into fun, practical lessons. BSBA Extension Coordinator Rodazen C. Mamaril outlined the initiativeโs sustainability plan, which includes quarterly follow-up visits, consistent encouragement from BSBA alumni, and incorporation into the BSBA Extension Calendar of Activities. Teachers of Eden Integrated School were also encouraged by school head Vilma S. Dela Cruz, Head Teacher III, to help children adopt daily saving habits both in school and at home.
Thirty Grade 3 and 4 learners eagerly participated in activities designed to make saving an enjoyable part of their lives. The program opened with an invocation by BSBA faculty member Princess Joana M. Gonsay, followed by welcoming messages from Barangay Captain Reynaldo S. Marzo and school head Vilma S. Dela Cruz, who emphasized the importance of financial literacy for young students. The educational core of the program was enriched by insights from the Resource Speakerโs representative, Ms. Aubrey Gulla, introduced by Dr. Myrna G. Fontanilla, Program Chair of the BSBA Department. BSBA faculty members Gretchen H. Madalura and Jamaica E. Estrada facilitated a workshop that helped learners understand budgeting, needs versus wants, and the value of small but consistent savings.
The event concluded with a program evaluation led by Rodazen C. Mamaril, followed by heartfelt impressions shared by the participants. Dr. Lilibeth Valerio, retired faculty member of the department, acknowledged the sponsors whose generosity made the activity possible, while Dr. Reagan P. Buyucan delivered the closing remarks, reaffirming the BSBA Departmentโs commitment to community-centered education. Warm and lively hosting by emcees Mark Dave M. Respicio and Charity B. Marques kept the entire activity engaging and inclusive. As PROJECT SAVE takes root in Barangay Eden, it stands as a powerful testament to collaboration, compassion, and contextualized learningโempowering young savers to build brighter and more financially secure futures.
