We envision a world where children of vulnerable coastal communities are free to dream and pursue a purposeful life that they will be proud of. We create waves of opportunities with the goal of creating a long-lasting impact on a specific group of disadvantaged children of our coastal community. We have initiated several programs and activities that enables the youth to explore their oceans of pos
sibilities. Our activities are centered around our four pillars which are: SPORTS, EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, and PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.
๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝSPORTS - We have implemented a Surfboard Borrowing Program where children can access SURFING when they participate in our Environmental Protection Activities such as Coastal Cleanups and Recycling initiatives. We've also been facilitating daily beach football (soccer) games to keep the youth engaged and active in sports.
๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝEDUCATION - During the pandemic we organized Tutorial Sessions with volunteers who could give assistance to students who were struggling with the distance learning set-up. Right now, we're slowly developing our community learning center and have partnered with an international programming school, Algorithmics San Juan to teach Digital Literacy Classes to a handful of the children in our community.
๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝENVIRONMENT - We conduct regular coastal clean ups and ensure that the waste we collect are properly segregated in line with our partnership with a local tech startup phone application called TRASH CASH PH that incentivizes Plastic Recycling that allows users to earn points from plastic waste.
๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝPERSONAL DEVELOPMENT - we've conducted workshops that aim to address the children's low self esteem issues especially in relation to being bullied because of their dark colored skin. encourage them to dream bigger and aspire for a future with a better quality of life. OUR STORY
The story of Alon and Araw Club began in 2020 when its founders, Donn and Gabi, first moved to Cabangan and discovered a hidden surf spot within a beautiful beach. Unfortunately, its shores were constantly being littered with plastic washed up by the waves or left behind by visitors. It wasn't long before Donn and Gabi thought of a way to tackle the trash problem on the beach. They launched a simple surfboard exchange program which would allow the local kids to have free surf lessons and rentals if they participated in weekly beach cleanups. As the number of local kids grew, Donn and Gabi were inspired to formalize the program, hence the founding of Alon and Araw Club in March 2021. WHO WE ARE
