The wait is finally over!

Here are the event highlights of PawiCamp 2023: Shaping Next Generation's Marine Warriors.

Thank you to John Ray Parohinog for compiling the best moments of the camp. John Ray is the first local trainee of Get Lost.

What is PawiCamp?

PawiCamp was a two-day educational campaign funded by the National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy in collaboration with Paragon One.

This event was catered to the youth to raise awareness about marine turtle conservation issues in Zambales. This was organized by the youth for the youth.

PawiCamp serves as an avenue for young people to immerse themselves in marine turtle conservation issues. It aims to shape and prepare the next generation’s Marine Warriors through fun and feet-wet experiential education that shall inspire them to demonstrate volunteerism and love for marine life.

We had the most of our final day together! 💙

We wrapped up PawiCamp with a range of fun activities and workshops. During our project ideation and pitching workshop, campers were able to identify marine turtle conservation issues in their community and provide some solutions to address them.

It's been a season of firsts, from new friendships to new skills, and we're so proud of all our campers have accomplished—a huge thank you for bringing your energy and enthusiasm. We can't wait to see what amazing things you'll achieve in the future.

Raise your flag! 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

Our PawiCampers had an amazing time at our recent camp event, where they got to make their very own flags! It was a fun and creative way to express their team members’ unique personalities.

They had a blast brainstorming designs and bringing them to life with colorful fabrics and paints. It was so cool to see all the different flag designs that everyone came up with - from bright and bold to intricate and detailed.

Sharing some highlights from Day 1 of PawiCamp last March 4, 2023! 🎉 From inspiring talks to engaging lectures, it was truly an unforgettable experience.

𝙂𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙤𝙪𝙩, 𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨! 🌊

Did you know that various types of sea turtles can be found in the seas around the Philippines? Some quick information is as follows:

Green turtles, hawksbill turtles, olive ridley turtles, loggerhead turtles, and leatherback turtles are the five types of marine turtles found in the Philippines.

Turtles in the ocean play a crucial role in protecting seagrass and coral reefs. Several marine organisms rely on seagrass for shelter and sustenance, and they help keep the grass in check by eating it.

Threats to sea turtles include the destruction of their habitat, pollution, and overfishing. Another persistent issue is the illegal trading of turtle eggs and meat.

By participating in sustainable tourism, reducing your use of single-use plastics, and donating to organizations that protect marine turtles and their ecosystems, you can do your part to ensure their survival.

Let's do what we can to keep the oceans healthy for these magnificent species!
