The Boy Scouts of the Philippines Outfit 304 joins the Filipino nation and her people in demanding truth, accountability, and justice from the government.
As Scouts, we believe that the nurturing of democratic values and participatory citizenship among the youth of our community and nation is vital in leaving this world better than how we found it. The Outfit emphasizes that Scouting is not confined to knots and campfiresโit is about preparing ourselves to be engaged citizens who understand our nationโs history, our government, and our collective responsibility to act for the common good.
We denounce the continued indifference and non-participation of some sectors of the youth in national and local issues. Through the Eagle Scout advancement scheme, we are taught to study our society, confront its challenges, and contribute solutions. Silence and apathy have no place in a movement dedicated to service.
Today marks three important events: the International Day of Peace, the 53rd Anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law, and the National Day of Protest. While the Boy Scouts of the Philippines has long upheld its policy of non-partisanship, Outfit 304 recognizes that the call for peace, good governance, and accountability transcends partisan politics. It is a moral and civic duty; a demand rooted in the very essence of democracy and humanity.
The International Day of Peace reminds us that peace is not passiveโit must be built through justice, equity, and respect for human rights. True peace cannot exist where corruption thrives and where apathy allows wrongdoing to go unchallenged. As Scouts, we understand that safeguarding peace begins with action, no matter how small, and with courage to uphold what is right.
This yearโs observance of IDP challenges the youth to go beyond symbolic gestures and to actively promote peace in our schools, communities, and nation. We are called to be bridge-builders, problem-solvers, and defenders of truth. By standing against corruption and political apathy, we live out the Scouting spirit of service and contribute to a culture of peace that future generations can inherit.
Let this day be a reminder to all Scouts and the youth: peace is not just the absence of conflict, but rather it is the presence of justice. We call on every young Filipino to rise above indifference, to take part in building a society rooted in truth, justice, and peace, and to live out the Scout Oath and Law beyond just words but through our actions as well.
