APO Assembly of Great Leaders AA

21/07/2026

Mylord Frank Reed Horton envisioned a standard of manhood and international understanding that would eventually cross global borders, a dream that stands realized today through active chapters across the United States, the Philippines, and beyond.

As a student at Lafayette College, Mylord Frank Reed Horton sought to establish a campus organization for former Boy Scouts. On December 16, 1925, he conducted the very first ritual initiation at Brainerd Hall, giving rise to Alpha Phi Omega.

Beyond creating the fraternity's name, motto, and ritual, Mylord Frank Reed Horton lived a diverse and impactful life. He served as an Ensign on a minesweeper during World War I as part of the US NAVY, practiced law, and spent years as an educator teaching history, government, and English.

Though he passed away on August 28, 1966, generations of brothers continue to celebrate his "heavenly birthday" every July, honoring the light he kindled for young leaders.
