The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) College of Education formally opened the Teacher Education Council (TEC) Center of Excellence (COE) Field Visit today, May 21, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the universityโs pursuit of excellence in teacher education.
Held through an opening program attended by university officials, faculty members, and evaluators from the Teacher Education Council, the event highlighted NEUSTโs continuing commitment to producing competent, value-oriented, and globally competitive educators.
Leading the field visit team was Ms. Karla Christel T. Borja, accompanied by Ms. Daniel Marie Sotto and Dr. Evelyn Chavez. The evaluators were warmly welcomed by the NEUST administration headed by University President Dr. Rhodora R. Jugo, alongside Vice Presidents, deans, directors, and members of the College of Education faculty.
In her message, Dr. Jugo described the field visit as more than a compliance process, emphasizing that it reflects the universityโs sincere desire to uphold the noble responsibility of preparing future educators who will shape the nationโs future.
โAt NEUST, we firmly believe that quality education begins with quality teachers,โ Dr. Jugo said. โBehind every empowered learner and every progressive society are educators who dedicate themselves to the service of learning, character formation, and nation-building.โ
She also shared that achieving the Center of Excellence designation has long been a dream of the university and acknowledged the dedication of the College of Education in making the undertaking possible.
โThe journey toward becoming a Center of Excellence is never easy. But through our shared commitment, we continue to move forward, stronger and more inspired,โ she added.
Meanwhile, College of Education Dean Dr. Jo Neil T. Peria introduced the program heads, university administrators, and executive officials who will participate in the evaluation activities and interviews throughout the field visit. He expressed gratitude to the university leadership and the entire COE family for their support and hard work in preparation for the evaluation.
โThis is a very important journey for the College of Education,โ Dr. Peria stated, emphasizing the collective effort behind the universityโs aspiration for academic distinction.
During the overview of activities, TEC Field Visit Team Leader Ms. Borja clarified that the evaluation aims to validate the universityโs submitted documents and institutional systems in relation to the Teacher Education Councilโs criteria for Center of Excellence designation.
โThe process is both evaluative and developmental,โ Borja explained. โWhile we are guided by established criteria and scoring requirements, we also aim to surface institutional strengths and identify areas for further improvement.โ
The opening ceremony concluded with the singing of the College of Education Hymn.
