𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎?

The world is quick to notice people, but noticing is not the same as seeing.

We notice appearances.
We notice differences.
We notice what stands out.

Yet to truly see someone is to 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲—𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞. And perhaps that is one of the purest forms of love.

This 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 reminds us of the importance of being seen. It is a 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬. It is a reminder that every person deserves the freedom to live truthfully and to be recognized not for who others expect them to be, but for who they truly are. Because 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞. And choosing to be seen as you are is one of the bravest things a person can do.

And so, may we all learn to say and receive these words: "𝑰 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖."
