𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗼 💙📢

October 25, 2025—the Barangay San Antonio Council, led by Punong Barangay Marilou U. Amaya, in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Visionary Organizers for Informed Civic Engagement (VOICE), a group of third-year Bachelor of Arts in Communication students from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - South La Union Campus (DMMMSU-SLUC), successfully convened a community assembly in San Antonio, Aringay, La Union. This momentous event embodied the DILG's theme: “Araw ng Pakikibahagi: Solusyon at Aksyon Ating Talakayin sa Barangay Assembly,” bringing together key stakeholders, including Local Government Unit (LGU) officials, DILG officials, and residents of Barangay San Antonio, all united in their pursuit of a better future.

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲: 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗗𝗚𝘀

The community assembly was deeply connected to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contributing to a brighter future for all. Specifically, the event aligned with:

- SDG 4: Quality Education, promoting knowledge sharing and capacity building through discussions on community development and social services.
- SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, highlighting the importance of sustainable and resilient infrastructure in community development.
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, creating opportunities for social bonding and networking among residents, and laying the groundwork for a more harmonious and connected community.
- SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, strengthening the relationship between the barangay council and its constituents through participatory governance and community engagement.
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating the value of collaboration and cooperation in achieving sustainable development through the partnership between VOICE and the Barangay San Antonio Council.

The success of the event is a shining example of the strong partnership between VOICE and the Barangay San Antonio Council. This collaboration showcases the impact of effective governance and community engagement, inspiring others to follow suit. VOICE provided comprehensive support throughout the entire preparation process, ensuring a seamless and successful event that exceeded expectations.

The assembly was followed by a heartwarming get-together activity, where residents laughed, played games, and shared gifts, creating lasting memories and forging deeper connections with their neighbors. This joyous celebration nurtured a sense of community, paving the way for a brighter, more compassionate future.

We're thrilled to share the transformative success of POLITIcall to Seniors, 📞✨🗳️ our Community Development Project in Barangay Bautista, Caba, La Union! This groundbreaking initiative has empowered senior citizens to become active participants in shaping their community's future through:

✨ Age with Edge Campaign: A targeted awareness initiative that highlighted the importance of civic engagement among seniors, emphasizing their invaluable role in shaping the community's future and encouraging them to exercise their rights and responsibilities.
✨ Young at Heart, Politically Smart gathering: An interactive and engaging session that equipped seniors with knowledge and confidence to participate in the electoral process, providing them with essential information on voting procedures, candidate profiles, and key issues affecting their community.
✨ Intergenerational Dialogue: A platform that brought together seniors and younger generations for meaningful conversations, allowing them to share their experiences, wisdom, and perspectives, and learn from each other, promoting mutual understanding and respect. 💡✌🏽

Our team facilitated engaging conversations, ensuring seniors' voices were heard and valued. We're grateful for the unwavering support of Barangay Captain Raffy I. Oyando, Secretary Susie Marie Manongdo Bautista, and SK Chair Kenneth Carl Rulloda, who helped make this project possible. Our partner organizations and sponsors went above and beyond, providing all necessary resources without hesitation, ensuring the project's success and impact. 🌟🙌🏽

Guided by the mantra Inform, Involve, Evolve, we equipped seniors with the knowledge and confidence to participate in the May 2025 elections. We informed them about their rights and responsibilities, involved them in decision-making processes, and evolved their socio-political awareness. This holistic approach has been instrumental in empowering seniors to become active citizens. 🗣️🫶🏽💪🏽
