πππ§π ππππ ππ‘π π£πππ‘π§ | The celebration of officially commenced with the 11th Bike and Plant, one of Father Saturnino Urios University's flagship environmental stewardship initiatives, held at Sitio Iyao, Barangay Anticala, Butuan City. Carrying this year's anniversary theme, "Fidelity to the Mission, Radiating Hope," the activity gathered cyclists, advocates, community stakeholders, and members of the Urian community and in a shared commitment to care for creation through meaningful action.
The initiative forms part of the University's Save Taguibo Watershed advocacy, a long-standing commitment to protecting the Taguibo River Watershed, the primary source of clean water for Butuan City and nearby communities. Through this advocacy, the University responds to pressing environmental challenges such as illegal logging, mining, deforestation, and unsustainable land use by promoting reforestation, environmental education, and collaborative action with local communities and partner institutions. In safeguarding the watershed, the University helps preserve a vital resource that sustains households, agriculture, and future generations.
More than a tradition, Bike and Plant embodies the University's mission of forming socially responsible and environmentally conscious leaders. Every kilometer cycled and every seedling planted represents a collective pledge to restore forest cover, strengthen ecological resilience, and protect our common home through concrete acts of stewardship.
As FSUU marks 125 years of mission-driven education, the 11th Bike and Plant reminds us that lasting change begins with purposeful choices made together. Through every pedal, every tree planted, and every act of service, the University continues to radiate hope while advancing its enduring commitment to protecting, rehabilitating, and sustaining the Taguibo Watershed for the benefit of present and future generations.
