Salise | Meets every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month at Embassy Hotel Butuan HISTORY OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF MIDTOWN BUTUAN
"The more clubs you organize, the more projects you bring to life." These inspiring words from Past District Governor Tony Veneracion (RY 2009–2010) deeply resonated with the dedicated members of the Rotary Club of Downtown Butuan. As the club’s membership rapidly expanded, t
hen-President Maria Theresa M. Salise, recognizing the growing potential for greater service, envisioned the establishment of a new chapter. Alongside then-President-Elect Merceditha P. Poculan, they spearheaded the formation of what would become the Rotary Club of Midtown Butuan. Named in honor of its Sister Club, Rotary Club of Midtown Cubao, RC Midtown Butuan was chartered on November 1, 2010 with 32 dynamic charter members—professionals from diverse fields including law, finance, education, healthcare, government, business, and engineering. United by a shared commitment to “Service Above Self,” these founding members laid a strong foundation of purposeful action and collaborative spirit. Now celebrating its 14th year, RC Midtown Butuan stands tall as a reflection of its unwavering dedication to the Rotary Foundation and the core values of Rotary International. Throughout the years, the club has consistently earned accolades from both District 3860 and Rotary International for its excellence in service. Guided by Rotary’s 7 Areas of Focus—Peace and Conflict Resolution, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water and Sanitation, Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and Literacy, Economic and Community Development, and Environmental Sustainability—RCMB has implemented high-impact initiatives that continue to uplift lives and transform communities. With each year, RCMB’s passion for service has only grown stronger. The induction of 12 new members in July 2024 is a testament to its vibrant leadership, forward-thinking mindset, and inclusive spirit. These new members bring fresh energy and innovation, ensuring the club’s continued relevance and reach in today’s ever-evolving world. As we look toward the future, the Rotary Club of Midtown Butuan remains firmly committed to its mission—to create lasting change in our communities and around the world. With a solid foundation, professional excellence, and a heart for service, RCMB continues to soar to even greater heights—a beacon of hope, action, and meaningful change.
