Equally emphasized during the Social Welfare Week Celebration last November 24, 2025 was the ADSWI Caraga’s steadfast stand to End Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC). A call that grows louder and more urgent each year.

In consonance with the 2025 18-Day Campaign to End Violence, Social Workers reminded all duty bearers, institutions, and community partners that protecting women’s rights is not optional, it is a core responsibility that upholds human dignity, equality, and justice.

Violence against women and children has no place in a humane society, and ADSWI–Caraga remains firm in its commitment to amplify awareness, strengthen community support, and uphold mechanisms that shield women and children from harm.

Aligned with ADSWI–Caraga’s vision of promoting the rights of vulnerable sectors in the region, the gathering of Social Workers during the Social Welfarw Week Celebration in Butuan City also amplified an essential advocacy that remains central to the nation’s juvenile justice system: “A jail is no place for a child”.

In solidarity with the 2025 Juvenile Justice Consciousness Week, the organization reiterated its call for a justice system anchored in restorative approaches, compassion, and respect for the developmental needs of children in conflict with the law.

To support the week-long awareness campaign, the Association turned over a ₱4,000 financial assistance to the Regional Juvenile Justice Welfare Committee-Caraga, reflecting the profession’s collective effort to strengthen initiatives that protect children and promote a more child-responsive justice framework.

In solemn observance of the 2025 Children’s Month Celebration, the Association of DSWD Social Workers, Inc. (ADSWI) – Caraga convened its members at the LMX Convention Center, Butuan City to reaffirm the profession’s enduring mandate to uphold, defend, and advance the rights of every Filipino child.

The gathering served as a meaningful convergence of Social Workers from across the region. These professionals bound by a shared calling to champion the welfare of vulnerable sectors. One of the most symbolic highlights of the event was the collective recitation of the Panatang Makabata. As the hall resounded with the unified pledge of Social Workers, it became a powerful affirmation that child protection is not merely an obligation written in policy, but a deeply rooted commitment carried in the heart of every practitioner. This act of unity underscored the profession’s resolve to nurture a society where all children are safe, protected, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.

Throughout the gathering, the spirit of service, solidarity, and compassion prevailed. It became a moment to reflect, recommit, and reimagine a Caraga Region where every child is valued. The event not only celebrated advocacies but reignited the profound purpose that moves every Social Worker to become instruments of hope, protectors of rights, and catalysts of meaningful social change.

As we continue our collective journey through 2025, ADSWI–Caraga stands united in its mission, to honor the dignity of children uphold their rights, and strengthen a society grounded in justice, empathy, and shared humanity.

Together, we serve. Together, we protect. Together, we rise for a safer and more compassionate Caraga.

A STATEMENT FROM THE ASSOCIATION OF DSWD SOCIAL WORKERS, INCORPORATED (ADSWI) – CARAGA CHAPTER
On the Recent Malicious Allegations Against DSWD and the Social Work Profession

We, the Association of DSWD Social Workers, Incorporated (ADSWI) – Caraga Chapter, strongly denounce the baseless and harmful accusations made recently against DSWD and its employees. These false claims (DSWD is more corrupt than the "mentioned agency" currently in the national spotlight, that DSWD employees own multiple cars through ill-gotten gains from travel claims, that their salaries are excessive and akin to bonuses, and that there is "easy money" in social work), circulated on social media, are not only attacks on our institution but also on the integrity and dedication of every social worker who serves the Filipino people every day.

As social workers, we dedicate our lives to serving the poor, the marginalized, and the vulnerable—often in difficult, dangerous, and thankless conditions. That is why it is deeply disheartening when our efforts are undermined by unfounded statements that paint a distorted picture of who we are and what we do.

The claims made against us are simply not true. They ignore the reality that every DSWD employee earns their salary based on work that is honest, transparent, and accountable. Our compensation, like that of all government workers, follows strict rules and guidelines set by law. There are no hidden privileges, no unfair advantages—only fair wages for hard work.

To suggest otherwise is not just an attack on our profession, but also a slap in the face of every social worker who braves hardships to deliver services—whether in far-flung barangays, disaster-stricken areas, or crowded urban communities.

We want the public to know this: we stand firm in our commitment to serve. Despite limited resources, heavy workloads, and personal risks, we continue to go to the frontlines because our mission is bigger than ourselves. We are here for the Filipino people—for the families who need help, for the children who deserve protection, for the communities that depend on us in times of crisis.

We call on everyone to reject disinformation and instead support those who dedicate their lives to social service. What we ask is simple: respect the dignity of social workers and the noble work that we do.

To our fellow social workers, let us remain united, resilient, and steadfast. Our strength is in our solidarity. To the Filipino people, we assure you that your social workers will never abandon you. We will continue to uphold the highest standards of service, guided always by our values of integrity, compassion, and professionalism.

Together, let us protect the truth, defend the profession, and keep serving with heart.
