OPERATION WALANG IWANAN is now ACTIVATED! 🇵🇭🙏🧡

Gawad Kalinga has started to mobilize help for families affected by the recent major earthquakes in Southern Mindanao.

We are currently coordinating with partner communities, LGUs and volunteers in Davao Occidental, Sarangani Province and General Santos City.

As we continue pray for the victims, let us combine our efforts in making sure that we leave no one behind, especially those in the peripheries.

Please be informed that there will be postponement of the ALL activities for the 124th Foundation Anniversary, as well as shift to online learning modality in ALL levels effective Monday, October 13, 2024.

Students are advised to stay in safe locations and attend to their classes and academic requirements through FSUU Learn. Faculty members are directed to reach out to their students through all available communication channels.

Further announcements will be made once on-site classes and activities are deemed safe to resume.

𝗨𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗞 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱: 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯

October 10, 2025 — Day 3 of the Urian GK Community Build began with hearts full of purpose and the same spirit of compassion that has carried this project forward.

In the morning, the build site was filled with the energy and teamwork of our University administrators from the Admission and Scholarship Office and the Academic Resources and Services Office (ARSO), alongside our dedicated NSTP students from FM11 and FM12. Together, they worked hand in hand — hauling sand, lifting materials, and sharing laughter that echoed the true spirit of bayanihan.

But just as the morning build was in full motion, an unexpected magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck east of Manay, Davao Oriental at around 9:43 a.m., as reported by PHIVOLCS. The strong shaking that rippled through Butuan City and nearby areas lasted for over a minute — a moment that reminded us how precious safety truly is. With hearts united in care, the afternoon build was postponed, prioritizing the well-being of everyone on-site.

While it was sad to pause the day’s efforts, it was undoubtedly the right and most compassionate decision — because no mission of service is more important than protecting lives. The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and partners remain our utmost priority.

Even in moments of fear and uncertainty, the Urian spirit remains unshaken — grounded in faith, unity, and resilience. This experience reminds us that our strength as a community is not only seen in what we build, but in how we care for one another when challenges arise.

We continue to pray for everyone’s safety and for all those affected. The Urian GK Build will carry on — stronger, wiser, and filled with gratitude for every new day we can serve.

𝗨𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗞 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱: 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮

October 9, 2025 — The bayanihan spirit continued to thrive on Day 2 of the Urian GK Community Build!

This day was made extra special as it was joined not only by our NSTP students from sections MM11 and A13, and the Philippine National Police Region 13, but also by the University administrators themselves — including Rev. Fr. Randy Jasper C. Odchigue, University President, along with the administrators from the Finance Office, Community Involvement and Advocacy (CiNA)/Foundation Office, Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the Office of the Vice President for Administrative and Student Affairs. Their participation in the morning build embodied true servant leadership — showing that compassion and community service begin at the top.

In the afternoon, the momentum of service continued as more volunteers arrived: NSTP students from IT11, CE11, and CE12, together with faculty members and students from the ETP, CJEP, and BAP departments, as well as representatives from the Registrar’s Office. Their energy, teamwork, and dedication filled the site with life, laughter, and purpose — proving once again that when the Urian community unites, every effort becomes a building block of hope.

Throughout the day, students, faculty, and administrators worked hand in hand — hauling sand, lifting materials, and building not just homes but stronger connections rooted in compassion and solidarity. Each shared moment reflected what it truly means to be a Urian: to serve wholeheartedly, to lead with humility, and to build with love.

Day 2 stands as a reminder that real change happens when every Urian — from students to administrators — chooses to serve with love and purpose.

We inform the public that all games and other activities at Morelos and Main Campuses of FSUU are postponed until further notice. We assure everyone that no student, faculty, employee or guest was harmed during the earthquake.

The postponement is a precautionary measure to ensure that the campus remains safe and secure for all.
