The Caraga Children Advocates Network (C.A.N) strongly condemns all forms of bullying and stands with every child who experiences violence, intimidation, and abuse. We acknowledge the pain and anger surrounding this incident. However, justice cannot be achieved by exposing the identities of children, encouraging threats, or promoting acts of retaliation through social media. These actions place more children at risk and undermine the very purpose of child protection.
The organization calls on the public to stop demanding the disclosure of the names of the children involved and to reject comments that encourage violence or intimidation against them. Children who commit wrongful acts must be held accountable through lawful and child sensitive procedures established by our justice system. The Local Council for the Protection of Children, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, law enforcement agencies, schools, and other competent authorities are mandated to address these situations based on evidence, due process, and the best interests of the child. Public condemnation, online harassment, and threats are not substitutes for legal accountability and may expose individuals to legal consequences.
Child protection is not selective. It protects the victim by ensuring access to justice, recovery, and support, while also protecting the rights of children in conflict with the law or those accused of wrongdoing through due process and appropriate intervention. One child's rights cannot be protected by violating the rights of another. The organization urges everyone to allow the proper authorities to complete their work without interference, speculation, or online vigilantism. True justice is achieved when accountability is pursued within the rule of law, with equal respect for the rights, safety, and dignity of every child involved.
