Meet the People Behind the Mission ๐ฟ๐
The MATSING Project Team is a passionate group of researchers, educators, and community partners working together to make one vision a reality: sustainable humanโmacaque coexistence in Sumile, Butuan City.
Dr. Sherryl L. Paz, the team leader is into Wildlife Conservation and Human-Wildlife Interactions. Dr. Paz spearheads the HUMACE program and MATSING Project and provides overall leadership, scientific direction, and institutional coordination for the successful implementation of the project.
Dr. Petervir A. Paz is a project team member. He is a Development Communication specialist. He leads the development, Installation, and Management of Conservation Information Materials and Project Documentation. Specific Roles include IEC material development, Establishment of Conservation Information Corners, and Project Documentation and Knowledge Management.
Miss Keillah Marie Mendoza is a project team member who is into biodiversity conservation. She is responsible for the design and implementation of training activities, particularly for BSES student facilitators and educators. Specific roles include
Training Program Development, Student Facilitator Support; and Documentation of Learning Outcomes
Mr. Len Marc P. Tagud is a project team member who is into environmental planning and management.
He serves as the primary link between the project team and local communities and partner institutions. Specific Roles include Community Engagement, Stakeholder Coordination, and Social and Cultural Context Assessment.
Rooted in science and driven by community, our team brings together diverse expertise in biodiversity conservation, social research, education, and local governance. From conducting field research and developing IEC materials, to facilitating workshops and engaging with residents, each member plays a vital role in transforming knowledge into action.
But more than a team, we are a growing movement, working hand in hand with the Sumile community to turn challenges into opportunities, and conflicts into coexistence.
Together, we are not just protecting macaques.
We are shaping a future where people and wildlife thrive side by side. ๐
