One of the most exciting highlights of our Youth Camp was the Indigenous Cooking Contest, where participants prepared food using ancestral cooking methods passed down through generations.

🔥 Binuyokot – haluan (mudfish) is curled and smoked over fire, giving it a rich smoky flavor while preserving its natural taste.
🎋 Linutyot – rice is cooked inside the bamboo, absorbing a natural earthy aroma and subtle sweetness from the bamboo.
🍃 Binongganan – food is cooked using leaves, wrapped and gently heated so it locks in aroma, moisture, and natural flavor.
This activity gave our youth a hands-on experience of the rich culinary heritage of the Manobo people and a deeper appreciation of indigenous knowledge and traditions.

Congratulations to all participants for showcasing not only your cooking skills but also your pride in preserving our culture! 🏕️✨

Day 1 | Opening Ritual

The first day of the activity commenced with a solemn and meaningful ritual dedicated to expressing gratitude and respectfully seeking permission from the elements believed to guard and protect the area where the program will take place. Rooted in tradition and reverence for nature, the ceremony symbolized humility, respect, and the recognition of the deep connection between people, culture, and the environment.

As participants gathered in unity, the ritual served not only as an opening activity but also as a reminder of the importance of beginning every endeavor with sincere intentions and mindful acknowledgment of the space that welcomes us. Through this symbolic act, the atmosphere was set with harmony, positivity, and a shared sense of purpose, marking a memorable and purposeful start to the journey ahead. 🌿✨
