As early as 2014, our Executive Director ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ข๐ซ๐จ ๐๐๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ฌ asserted that the Ludong population in the Cagayan River was ๐ถ๐๐ ๐ก๐๐๐๐ข๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ (Macleay, 1883). ๐๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ง๐จ ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ก๐ข๐ฆ.
After eight years, this morphological assessment has been ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฅ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ซ ๐ญ๐๐๐ก๐ง๐ข๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ฌ! While better late than never, this scientific validation is absolutely crucial for the conservation and management of this important species.
