BRIEF HISTORY OF SAN JUAN INTEGRATED SCHOOL (postd by Teacher Henry Salas on December 16, 2019)
The school site of San Juan Barrio School was donated by Mr. Pio Basa. Its land area is 6,390 sq. m. The school started in 1902 with a two-room building facing south. It has a roofing of galvanized iron with walls and flooring made of woods. According to the oldest folks in the community, the first teacher was Mr. Potenciano Deloso, holding multi-grade classes (Grades l-lll).
After many decades, more teachers were assigned here, like Mr. Alexander Villanueva, Ms. Elvira Docuyanan and many more. San Juan Barrio School became San Juan Elementary School in 1964. There were around thirty elementary graduates under Miss Sotera Cruz. The principal during that time was Mr. Ruben L. Roque, a native of Guagua, Pampanga. In 1957, the National Government constructed an Army-Type Building with four rooms, followed by the PTA Building iwith a comfort room in June, 1971 which was used as a clinic.
Then in October, 1978 another five-room Bagong Lipunan Building was constructed and followed by a three-room Marcos Type Building in December 1981. In February, 1989 the two-room Laguna Type Building was built followed by the DPWH_BOD Building in 1991 and another building was constructed by the National Government known as the DepEd Plan Building in 2002.
In 2017 the two-storey four-classroom building was constructed by Public Partnership for School Infrastructure Project (PSIP) Phase 2.
On February 13, 2017 it became San Juan Integrated School to cater all the students of Barangay San Juan who cannot afford to study in schools located in the town proper of Botolan. This helps in the financial burden and less effort on the part of the students and parents.
The latest physical development was the construction of two-storey, eight-classroom DepEd school building which was turned over this current year, 2019.
At present the school has a population of 450 - 302 in Elementary and 148 in Secondary. It has ten (10) nationally funded teachers and one (1) contractual teacher in Elementary level and nine (9) nationally funded teachers in Secondary headed by a principal.
