In celebration of Philippine Environment Month, the Boracay Foundation Inc. (BFI), led by our Committee on Environment–Land Chair Nenette Graf, joined partners and volunteers in the Wetland Clean-Up Activity held on June 11, 2026, at Wetland No. 1 and Wetland No. 6, part of a series of environmental initiatives spearheaded by CENRO Boracay.

Our wetlands are among Boracay's most valuable natural assets, helping protect biodiversity, improve water quality, and maintain the island's ecological balance. Today's activity serves as a reminder that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.

Another exciting day of showcasing the beauty of Boracay here in Davao!

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with tourism partners, travel enthusiasts, and industry stakeholders while promoting the island we proudly call home.

We would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to BFI Board Director Joel Sta. Rosa of Fourpoints by Sheraton for his generosity in hosting our Day 1 dinner at Acacia Hotel Davao, making our first day even more memorable.

DAY 1 AT THE 33rd PTAA TRAVELTOUR EXPO VISMIN 2026 ✈️🌴

Boracay Foundation Incorporated (BFI) is proud to be in Davao City, bringing the beauty, warmth, and world-renowned hospitality of Boracay to one of the biggest travel events in the country.

As we begin our journey at the 33rd PTAA TravelTour Expo VisMin Edition 2026, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Tourism Region VI, especially Regional Director Crisanta Marlene P. Rodriguez, for giving BFI the opportunity to be part of the Western Visayas Pavilion. Through this platform, we are able to showcase not only the island's breathtaking attractions and tourism products but also the collective efforts of Boracay's tourism stakeholders in promoting sustainable and responsible tourism.

Today was made even more meaningful as we had the privilege of meeting and greeting PTAA President Mr. Jaison Yang, whose leadership continues to strengthen and elevate the Philippine tourism industry. His passion for promoting domestic tourism, fostering industry collaboration, and creating opportunities for destinations across the country serves as an inspiration to tourism advocates and stakeholders alike. We are honored to have shared with him Boracay's story, achievements, and aspirations as we continue working together towards a stronger and more resilient tourism sector.

Representing Boracay Foundation Incorporated at the expo are our dedicated Board of Directors, Ms. Claribel Casimero and Ms. Nenette Aguirre-Graf, together with Mr. Joey Molano from the BFI Secretariat Office. Boracay has always been more than just a world-renowned destination, it is our home, our heritage, and a fragile paradise that must be protected for generations to come.

Today, Boracay Foundation Inc. (BFI) welcomes this positive development with gratitude and renewed hope. Since the very beginning, our advocacy has remained clear and unwavering: “Preserve what we have, restore what we lost.”

We are not against development, but it must always be anchored on environmental protection, backed by thorough and in-depth studies. For a project of this scale, even the installation of a single pillar could already alter the sea currents, and we cannot afford to be blind to the possible long-term effects on Boracay’s ecosystem.

Boracay’s beauty and sustainability should never be compromised.

We thank Mr. Ramon Ang for verbally cancelling the proposed project, and most especially President Bongbong Marcos for immediately bridging our provincial leaders and ensuring that our strong opposition was heard..

This is a reminder that when communities, leaders, and stakeholders come together with genuine concern for the environment, meaningful action is possible.
