Samoki Youth Join 2-Day DRRM Skills Challenge of Bontoc LGU
The youth of Samoki proudly joined the 2-Day Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Skills Challenge organized by the Bontoc Local Government Unit through the Municipal DRRM Office.
After the Rescue March, participants were assigned to mixed teams, giving the Samoki youth the chance to showcase not only their skills but also leadership, camaraderie, and teamwork. They bonded with fellow delegates from Balbalan, Kalinga; La Trinidad, Benguet; Licuan-Baay, Abra; and Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School.
The challenging route took them from Faliling to Mount Fato, Mount Pokis View Deck, Teng-ab Pastoral Complex, the Provincial Plaza, and back to Eyeb. Along the way, they demonstrated crucial life-saving skills such as CPR, bandaging, basic rope techniques, splinting, rescue carries, quiz bee participation, patient packaging, and the bucket relay.
This experience not only tested their disaster response abilities but also strengthened bonds with youth from other provinces—proving that disaster preparedness is best achieved through unity, collaboration, and shared learning.
