Why do art classes?
A qoute from Tv series Doctor Who describing Vincent Van Gogh always comes to our mind;
"The most popular great painter of all time, the most beloved. His command of color, the most magnificent. He transformed the pain of his tormented life into ecstatic beauty. Pain is easy to portray, but to use your passion and pain to portray the ecstasy and joy and magnificense of our world...no one have ever done it before..."
Art allows a person who is barely surviving cope with life. In a way art becomes an avenue to say words we can't speak, feelings we can't express, and relay thoughts needed to be seen.
For the youth social isolation and systematic disconnection is felt. Removed from access to a healthy and positive upbringing. Mental health challenges and distrust toward institutions are common among them. And if not fostered it will become a lifetime challenge of finding purpose and meaning.
This is why we do art classes with them. Giving them support through art can help them process emotions and establish grounds that enables them to hopefully find happiness despite hardships and beauty to every chaos.
Takday is a bridge for them, for every art classes or outreach we do we give them a chance.
