๐ฟ๐ฆ Creation Walks & Birdwatching at DYCI Elida Campus ๐ฆ๐ฟ
Over three daysโSeptember 25, 29, and October 1โwe journeyed through the Elida Campus and the Bocaue River, witnessing the richness of life that thrives in our midst.
๐ September 25
โจ First records of the Blue-tailed Bee-eater and a Red-collared Dove nest on a Narra Tree on campus
โจ Waterbirds along the Bocaue RiverโWhiskered Tern, Black-crowned Night Heron, and Little Egretโsigns that despite pollution, the river is alive and fighting.
โจ A Brown Shrike, our migratory guest from afar.
๐ The walk ended with a moment of silence for Bruno (a.k.a. Corgy/Bonchon), our beloved viral campus dog, laid to rest at the Mini-Forest, where students offered caballero flowers.
๐ September 29
โจ Sightings of Rufous-crowned Night Herons and Red-collared Doves, joined by Barn Swallows, Eurasian Tree Sparrows, and Yellow-vented Bulbuls.
๐ October 1
โจ During the opening of Green-Centered Month, we documented the White-breasted Waterhen for the first time on the Bocaue River, alongside Little Egrets, Rufous-crowned Night Herons, Barn Swallows, and Whiskered Terns.
โจ This marked our first-ever nature walk and birdwatching tour with high school teachers and studentsโa hopeful step in nurturing future guardians of creation.
Each wingbeat reminds us that creation speaks, heals, and calls us to care. ๐๐
