The Social Work Month celebration was a lively and meaningful event that gathered students, faculty, and professionals in a shared commitment to service and social justice. The day began at 7:30 AM with a colorful parade from the quadrangle to the gymnasium, symbolizing unity and the studentsโ journey toward becoming dedicated social workers.
Upon arrival, BSSW sections showcased their creativity and teamwork through energetic yells, fostering camaraderie and school spirit. The formal program opened with a prayer led by Ms. Chinee Marciano, followed by the National Anthem and MarSU Hymn. Dr. Ernesto Largado, Dean of CASS, delivered his opening remarks, emphasizing the vital role of social workers in society.
Associate Professor Rosalinda E. Punzalan then introduced the keynote speaker, Mrs. Erma E. Reyes, RSW, MBA. In her inspiring address, she shared her experiences and encouraged students to uphold empathy, resilience, and integrity, ending with a powerful chant of โMabuhay ang Manggagawang Panlipunan.โ She was later awarded a certificate of appreciation.
Messages from NASWEI and IASSW representatives followed, highlighting professional support, ethical practice, and global standards in social work. The event concluded with a photo session, capturing memorable moments of unity and celebration.
Overall, the program successfully inspired participants and reinforced the core values of social work service, dedication, and compassion.
