Orientation Day 🐕🚨

A meaningful day of learning, sharing, and understanding what it truly means to be part of K9 Search and Rescue.

Today’s orientation focused on what K9 SAR is all about—the important role of the K9 and its handler, the commitment required in training, teamwork, discipline, and the responsibility of being ready to serve and help save lives during emergencies and disasters.

More than just having a dog, becoming a K9 SAR volunteer means having the heart, dedication, patience, and willingness to serve others. 🐕❤️‍🩹

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who took the time and effort to attend our orientation and to those who are willing to step forward and become volunteers. Your presence is already a meaningful first step toward becoming part of a mission bigger than ourselves.

This is volunteerism. This is service. This is a commitment to help save lives. 🇵🇭🐾

03/08/2026

Not all heroes wear capes. Some walk on four paws. 🐾
🐕🇵🇭 Your dog could help save a life. Be more than a dog owner—be a volunteer who makes a difference.

The Biñan K9 Search and Rescue Volunteer Unit is looking for dedicated and responsible dog owners who are willing to train, serve, and become part of a life-saving mission.

No experience? No problem! We will guide you every step of the way.

📩 Message our page to reserve your slot and learn more.

This is a purely volunteer, non-compensated role driven by passion, commitment, and a shared desire to serve the community. The greatest reward is knowing that you and your K9 partner can help save lives when it matters most. ❤️

Train. Serve. Save Lives. Together with your K9.

READ: Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) Director Teresito Bacolcol said that the country could experience earthquakes stronger than magnitude 8.
“The Philippine Archipelago is actually compressed on both sides by the Eurasian Plate and the Philippine Sea Plate, pero yung Eurasian Plate almost immobile. Ang malakas na motion would be the Philippine Sea Plate. We are being pushed towards the northwest,” Bacolcol said in Raffy Tima's report on ''24 Oras'' on Thursday.

“The Philippine Trench here in Samar is capable of generating [magnitude] 8.1 and when that happens, puwedeng mag generate ng tsunami as high as 10 meters. Dito naman sa Manila Trench, puwede siya mag generate ng [magnitude] 8.3 earthquake,” he said.

He added that it might take only five minutes for the first tsunami waves to arrive following the earthquake, making it challenging to send out tsunami alerts as quickly as possible.

Bacolcol urged those living along the coast to recognize the signs of "Shake, Drop, and Roar" following a powerful earthquake.

“When there is strong shaking na halos hindi ka na makagalaw or di ka na makatayo, and there is sudden drop of sea level, and there is a roaring sound coming from the sea… Kung isa sa mga yan na observe mo, you have to evacuate immediately to a higher place, kung nasa coastal community ka,” he said.

Bacolcol issued the remarks after a magnitude-7.2 earthquake hit eastern Taiwan on Wednesday, killing 10 people.

Last June, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said over 60,000 fatalities and 120,000 missing people were expected if a 7.2-magnitude earthquake, or the ''Big One'' hit Metro Manila. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News Published: April 4, 2024
