ALMERIA, BILIRAN
This collage shows NDP Brett Abrea of Almeria, Biliran doing catch up immunization on April 29, 2025 to a Grade 5 learner of Pili Elementary School who was supposed to receive her second dose of HPV vaccine earlier this month but was deferred due to chickenpox. Together with Brett is BHW Merlina Jabuen who accompanied him to the the child's residence in Binog, an upland sitio located over a kilometer away from BHS Pili.
Prominent in the background are campaign materials posted on the wall outside of their house. As the 2025 mid-term elections is fast approaching, we can only hope that the platforms of both national and local candidates will not only focus on advancing infrastructure, tourism and the distribution of ayudas but will also include about improving the delivery of basic health services in the entire country.
In this case, hindi lang posters nila ang nakarating sa bundok kundi pati na rin bakuna at iba pang basic health services ng pamahalaan sa pamamagitan ng pakikipag-ugnayan ng DOH sa pamayanan.
PS: As of this writing, all 27 female learners belonging to the 4th, 5th and 6th grade levels of Pili Elementary School received their second dose of Gardasil, achieving 100% of the target.
