In celebration of World Engineering Day, the Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers – 8, or the PSABE 8, conducted a Mangrove Planting Activity on March 14, 2026 at Sanggalang, Biliran, Biliran.

A total of 800 mangrove propagules were successfully planted through the collective efforts of the members and officers of the PSABE 8, and the faculty and students of Biliran Province State University - Biliran Campus, together with members of the Sanggalang Farmers and Fisherfolks Association.

The mangrove propagules were locally gathered by the association from the community, who also guided participants in the proper planting of mangroves during the activity. Moving forward, the association will continue to monitor and nurture the planted propagules to ensure that they thrive and grow as part of the Sanggalang Mangrove Area, contributing to stronger coastal protection and environmental sustainability.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of agricultural and biosystems engineers, students, and community members to protect coastal ecosystems and promote sustainable environmental stewardship. 🌱🌊
