On this World Environment Day, let’s remember that the choices we make today shape the world future generations will live in. Every action counts β€” from reducing waste and conserving water to protecting our forests and wildlife.

The global community is uniting to end plastic pollution. But beyond international agreements, real change begins with each of us. Here’s how we can play our part every day:

πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ Choose sustainable transportation β€” walk, bike, carpool, or use public transit.
♻️ Commit to recycling the right way β€” sorting and disposing responsibly
πŸ‘Œ Give new life to old items by reusing and repurposing creatively
πŸ“‰ Be conscious of what we consume and strive to minimize waste
πŸ›’ Support brands and services that prioritize sustainability and transparency
βœ… Stay informed and cautious of greenwashing β€” not all β€œeco-friendly” claims are genuine
πŸ—‘οΈ Participate in local clean-up drives to keep neighborhoods and waterways clean.

As stewards of this planet, it’s our responsibility to act with care, respect, and urgency. Together, we can create a sustainable legacy that honors both our past and our children’s future.

The Earth’s future rests in our hands, and our actions today will define the legacy we leave behind. 🌎

On May 29, 2025, we were honored to welcome Liza Willeke, Misereor’s Safeguarding Officer, to Bohol! 🌿 The visit was held at the Loboc Children’s Palace, Tourism Complex.

Together with the Barangay officials of Loboc, school representatives from Oy National High School, Loboc Academy PMI, Loboc National High School, and other beneficiaries of the Soil and Water Conservation Foundation, Inc. (SWCF) projects funded by Misereor, we warmly welcomed Liza. Bilar Youth Environmental Ambassador (BYEA), a proud beneficiary of SWCF's projects, is truly grateful for her visit and the generous support from Misereor KZE.

The meeting was interactive and open to questions, fostering meaningful dialogue and strengthening our shared commitment to the community. We sincerely thank the LGU, and MDRRM Office of Loboc for the warm welcome and support extended to us.

After our activities in Loboc, we had the privilege of showing Liza the KARST Center in Roxas, Bilar, where she took part in a ceremonial tree planting. We also visited the Bohol Biodiversity Complex, underscoring the significance of biodiversity in our local area.

Her visit inspires us all to continue with our mission and to empower our community. Thank you, Misereor, for standing with us on this journey! πŸ™πŸ’š

🚨 Did you know?

During our recent river monitoring, we discovered that a Kalumpit tree was cut down.

The Kalumpit tree (Terminalia microcarpa) is a native species of the Philippines and plays a vital role in stabilizing riverbanks, preventing erosion, and providing habitat for wildlife. πŸŒ³πŸ’§

Here’s something to remember: Trees can’t shout or tell you to stop cutting themβ€”but they do cry through the loss of clean air, healthy soil, and fresh water. That’s why cutting native trees like Kalumpit without proper permits is illegal under Philippine law. The Revised Forestry Code (PD 705) protects these precious natural resources, and violators may face penalties, including fines and imprisonment.

What can we do?
βœ… Report illegal tree cutting to local authorities or DENR
βœ… Support reforestation and sustainable forest management
βœ… Spread awareness about protecting our native trees

Together, let’s listen to the silent cry of our trees and protect our forests and rivers for generations to come. Share this post and be part of the change! πŸŒΏπŸ’™
