In line with their commitment to sustainability, the ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป ๐จ๐ป๐ถ๐ฑ๐ผ ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ (๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ), an organization of students from Bien Unido studying at Holy Name University, conducted a mangrove planting activity on ๐ข๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฏ๐ญ, ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฐ, in๐ฃ๐ผ๐ฏ๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป ๐จ๐ป๐ถ๐ฑ๐ผ, ๐๐ผ๐ต๐ผ๐น. This outreach activity served as BUSSโs community engagement for the first semester of the Academic Year 2024-2025, embracing the theme "๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ป๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ: ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฎ ๐ฆ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ง๐ผ๐บ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ผ๐."
The event saw the planting of 150 ๐ผ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ฃ๐๐ ๐ข๐๐ง๐๐ฃ๐ mangrove seedlings. These seedlings, provided at no cost by the ๐๐ผ๐ต๐ผ๐น ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ (๐๐ฃ๐๐ ๐ข) through the ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐จ๐ป๐ถ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป ๐จ๐ป๐ถ๐ฑ๐ผ, were carefully planted by the enthusiastic members of BUSS, guided by a strong commitment to marine and environmental conservation.
Before the planting, the participants attended an orientation led by ๐ ๐ฎโ๐ฎ๐บ ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐๐ป ๐. ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ, the ๐๐ผ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ of the Municipality of Bien Unido. Pala emphasized the crucial role of mangroves in marine and environmental protection, detailing how mangroves act as natural buffers against coastal erosion, serve as breeding grounds for various marine species, and contribute to mitigating climate change by storing large amounts of carbon. Her talk provided a comprehensive overview of the environmental benefits of mangrove ecosystems, inspiring the students and grounding the activity in a deeper understanding of its ecological impact.
