In line with their commitment to sustainability, the 𝗕𝗶𝗲𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 (𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗦), an organization of students from Bien Unido studying at Holy Name University, conducted a mangrove planting activity on 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, in𝗣𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗕𝗶𝗲𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗼, 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹. This outreach activity served as BUSS’s community engagement for the first semester of the Academic Year 2024-2025, embracing the theme "𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗦 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲: 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄."

The event saw the planting of 150 𝘼𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙖 mangrove seedlings. These seedlings, provided at no cost by the 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗕𝗣𝗘𝗠𝗢) through the 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗶𝗲𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗼, were carefully planted by the enthusiastic members of BUSS, guided by a strong commitment to marine and environmental conservation.

Before the planting, the participants attended an orientation led by 𝗠𝗮’𝗮𝗺 𝗚𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗕. 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮, the 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 of the Municipality of Bien Unido. Pala emphasized the crucial role of mangroves in marine and environmental protection, detailing how mangroves act as natural buffers against coastal erosion, serve as breeding grounds for various marine species, and contribute to mitigating climate change by storing large amounts of carbon. Her talk provided a comprehensive overview of the environmental benefits of mangrove ecosystems, inspiring the students and grounding the activity in a deeper understanding of its ecological impact.

𝗠𝗿𝘀. 𝗥𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗹, the adviser of BUSS, graced the event with her presence and actively participated in the planting. Her involvement highlighted the organization's dedication to sustainability and set an example for the students, showing them the value of hands-on engagement in environmental causes.

The Bien Unido Students Society (BUSS) has achieved official recognition as one of the Recognized Student Organizations (RSO) at Holy Name University. The prestigious recognition event was held on October 5, 2024, at the HNU Barder Gym. The organization's officers, led by Andrea Marie G. Garcia and guided by Adviser Mrs. Ruth Vidal, proudly represented BUSS during the ceremony. This acknowledgment marks a significant milestone for the organization, fostering a sense of community and academic excellence among Bien Unidohanons studying at HNU.

BUSS is dedicated to illuminating excellence and driving positive change in its hometown and beyond. As the curricular organization for Bien Unidohanons at Holy Name University, BUSS is committed to making a lasting impact through its initiatives and activities. This recognition empowers the organization to further its goals and contribute meaningfully to the university and the broader community. With strong leadership and a clear vision, BUSS is poised to make significant strides in achieving its mission.

The Bien Unido Students Society (BUSS) proudly participated in the Holynamian Student Leaders' Summit (HSLS) 2024 held at Holy Name University from August 2 to 4, 2024. This annual gathering of student leaders from various Recognized Student Organizations (RSO) aimed to develop and equip servant leaders.

Representing BUSS were Andrea Marie Garcia, the newly elected organization President, along with fellow BUSSian officers Rinaliza Gonzaga and Jasset Pearl Angco. The trio actively engaged in the summit's activities, gaining valuable insights and inspiration from seasoned leaders and speakers.

Through this experience, the BUSS delegates are expected to bring back new knowledge and skills to further enhance the organization's leadership and service to the community.

The Bien Unido Students Society (BUSS) recently concluded a successful outreach activity in Barangay Liberty last June 16, 2024. Despite the delay in sharing this heartwarming story, the impact of the event continues to resonate within the community.

Spearheaded by the organization's President, Ms. Gracieta Mae M. Garcia, the day was filled with fun and learning as BUSS officers and members conducted engaging reading sessions for the young residents of Liberty. The organization aimed to cultivate a love for reading and enhance literacy skills among the children. To make the learning experience even more enjoyable, free ice cream was served, bringing smiles and laughter to the faces of the young participants.

The outreach program was made even more special with the presence of Ma'am Ruth Vidal, the organization’s dedicated adviser, whose guidance and support were instrumental in the event’s success.

BUSS, an extra-curricular Recognized Student Organization of Campus Student Organizations at Holy Name University, remains committed to serving the community and organizing meaningful activities that promote education and well-being.
