Inspiration, passion, and a holistic atmosphere reflected the ambience of leadership among student leaders during a youth leadership event at the Biñan People’s Center Auditorium, held last Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Titled “Divergent 2.0: Ready to Take Off: A Youth Leadership Journey,” the event was led by the Youth and Sports Development Office (YASDO) and targeted the presidents and vice presidents of the Supreme Elementary and Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SELG & SSLG), Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD), and Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O). It focused on empowering the youth through structured and experiential learning.
Following the meaningful opening remarks delivered by Mr. Mc Larnel R. Aliluran, Youth Development Officer IV, the activity proceeded with a “Pre-Flight Briefing,” which took the form of a panel discussion. The session featured distinguished speakers, namely Hon. Erica Habdosan, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Councilor of Barangay Dela Paz; Mr. Michael James Buno, a Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) and Executive Secretary of SIKLAB Langkiwa; Hon. Mae Gonzales, Councilor of Barangay Loma; and Ms. Elle Aspilla, a Gender Equality and Human Rights advocate.
During this juncture, they shared their experiences and journeys as student leaders and how they became the individuals they are today—emphasizing that a 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.

For the culminating sessions of the leadership training, participants were divided into two plenary groups. Mr. Mico Llantos, the Local Youth Development Officer (LYDO) of GMA, Cavite, led the “Flight Training” for the elementary level. On the other hand, Mr. Lief Jezreel Reyes, LYDO of San Mateo, Rizal, facilitated the session for the secondary level.
