Visayas State University is exploring ways to make graduate education more accessible across Region VIII through Open Distance and e-Learning (ODeL). The Distance Education Office is currently gathering data on preferred fields of study, schedules, and learning support needs to help shape future graduate program offerings.

FHSS ONBOARDING HIGHLIGHTS✨

𝓝𝓮𝔀 𝓯𝓪𝓬𝓮𝓼. 𝓝𝓮𝔀 𝓬𝓸𝓷𝓷𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼. 𝓝𝓮𝔀 𝓸𝓹𝓹𝓸𝓻𝓽𝓾𝓷𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓮𝓼.

On August 19, 2026, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) officially welcomed students to a new academic year through its Department Onboarding at the VSU Gymnasium.

Bringing together students, faculty members, and department heads from the Department of Arts, Languages, and Literature (DALL) and the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences (DPSS), the event provided an avenue for introductions, meaningful conversations, and essential discussions on matters that shape the student experience—including SOGIESC, university processes, and academic concerns.

More than an orientation, the onboarding marked the beginning of a shared journey—one built on learning, connection, and community. As we step into another academic year, may we continue to learn with purpose, connect with one another, and make every moment count.

On August 20, 2026, the Visayas State University - International Affairs and Relations Office (IARO), together with the ABELS Society, celebrated ASEAN Month with the theme:

“𝓞𝓷𝓮 𝓥𝓲𝓼𝓲𝓸𝓷, 𝓞𝓷𝓮 𝓞𝓬𝓮𝓪𝓷: 𝓝𝓪𝓿𝓲𝓰𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓕𝓾𝓽𝓾𝓻𝓮, 𝓣𝓸𝓰𝓮𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓻” 🌊🌎

As part of the celebration, the 𝑩𝑰𝑮𝑲𝑨𝑺𝑬𝑨𝑵: 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 was held at the VSU Amphitheater, where passionate participants shared their words and voices while proudly representing their respective faculties.

𝓦𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓮 𝓝𝓮𝔀 𝓑𝓮𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 𝓜𝓮𝓮𝓽 𝓑𝓮𝓪𝓾𝓽𝓲𝓯𝓾𝓵 𝓥𝓲𝓮𝔀𝓼 ⛰️🌅

Last Tuesday, August 11, 2026, we welcomed the ABELS, ABLit, and AB Philosophy freshmen as the newest batch of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences!

Their morning started with an orientation about VSU and what it means to be a Viscan. In the afternoon, they went on a campus tour led by some of their seniors from the Faculty together with the volunteers from each organization. The tour gave them the chance to get familiar with the landmarks of our Very Sakaon/Scenic University—from the breathtaking views of the trees in the Upper Campus to the beautiful sunsets by the beach at the Lower Campus. 🌿🌅

Welcome to VSU, Ka-ABELS and LITMajors freshmen! May your years here be filled with meaningful learnings, unforgettable memories, and experiences that will make your Viscan journey truly special. 💙

𝓝𝓮𝔀 𝓛𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓮𝓻𝓼, 𝓝𝓮𝔀 𝓑𝓮𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 💙🌟

On August 12, 2026, the 𝙰𝙱𝙴𝙻𝚂 𝚂𝙾𝙲𝙸𝙴𝚃𝚈 held its First General Assembly and Turnover Program, marking the transition from one set of leaders to the next. The day also began with the DALL Orientation and welcome Ka-ABELS and LITMajors as we officially began the new academic year together.

The former officers were recognized with certificates for their dedication and service. They also presented their accomplishments, activities, and transparency report from the previous school year. Meanwhile, the newly elected officers officially took their oath and presented their platforms, setting their goals for meaningful service and a better experience for all ABELS students.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our former officers for their service, leadership, and commitment to the ABELS community. To our newly elected officers, congratulations and good luck as you begin this new chapter of service! May you lead with purpose, dedication, and heart. 💙
