‎The 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (AVESS) successfully held its 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 last September 15 at the FFES AVR! 🏛️🌱

‎It was an inspiring assembly of unity as our newly elected officers officially took their Oaths of Office! This was followed by a presentation giving an overview of the proposed events for this academic year, alongside the highly anticipated Jamboree!🔥

𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗜𝗖𝗖? 🌊

The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) is the world’s largest volunteer effort for cleaning oceans and waterways, bringing millions of people together each year to remove marine debris, document what is collected, and contribute valuable data for marine conservation.

Held every 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘥 𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳, the global movement continues this year on 𝙎𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙎𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝟏𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, with Visayas State University joining the call to protect our waterways and strengthen environmental consciousness across the campus.

Through systematic documentation, volunteers help build scientific data that can be used to better understand marine pollution and guide future conservation efforts and environmental policies.

Making this meaningful initiative possible is our five-core-organization alliance: the 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗙𝗙𝗘𝗦), 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 (𝗙𝗦𝗦), 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 (𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗦), 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗿𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗼𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 #𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗦𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘.

Mula sa 166 applicants, napili ang ✨ 50 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 ✨ na tutuloy para sa Sisid 2026 na gaganapin mula Setyembre- Nobyembre 2026. 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 | 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 2026

On August 22, student leaders from the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Science–Supreme Student Council joined fellow student leaders from various FSSCs, organizations, and the USSCs across VSU campuses for the annual Student Leadership Summit at the VSU RDE Hall.

The morning sessions focused on the Guidelines on the Establishment and Operations of Student Organizations, proper documentation and secretariat work, and the Anti-Hazing Act—equipping leaders with the knowledge to responsibly handle their organizations.

In the afternoon, the conversation shifted toward the leaders themselves through “Leading Without Burning Out,” highlighting the importance of well-being alongside leadership. Sessions on disaster risk planning and financial management also reminded student leaders of the responsibility that comes with serving others.

More than just a leadership training, the summit served as a reminder that effective leadership also means knowing when to pause, take care of oneself, and lead with purpose.
