𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 🏳️‍⚧️

Today, Wagayway Equality’s WE Transpire had the opportunity to engage in a meaningful Focus Group Discussion with the faculty researchers from the University of Batangas – College of Nursing, alongside transgender leaders and community members.

More than just research, this space became a platform for stories, lived experiences, and truth-telling—because data should never exist without the people behind it.

Right after, we headed to the Equality Desk for a visit and consultation, grounding our conversations in the realities of human rights, access to services, and protection mechanisms for the transgender community.

This is what collaboration should look like:

📍Action that bridges knowledge and advocacy

In celebration of Women’s Month, our TransPinay sisters came together and visited Espasyo by Wagayway Equality and Equality Desk to prioritize their health and well-being through free, fast, and confidential HIV screening.

This meaningful visit highlights the importance of accessible and stigma-free healthcare spaces where transgender women can feel safe, respected, and empowered to take charge of their sexual health. By getting tested, our sisters not only protect themselves but also contribute to building a more informed, supportive, and healthy community.

At WE Transpire, we believe that women in all their diversity deserve inclusive healthcare, dignity, and visibility. This Women’s Month, we continue to celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of transgender women who are actively advocating for their health and the well-being of our community.

In case you needed a reminder 🙏🏻🏳️‍⚧️ Trans women are women. Period. No matter what others say, question, or try to deny—this is our truth and our authentic self. From any perspective—social, cultural, or even biblical—language has always been shaped by people, time, and context. Language is Arbitrary. Words evolve. Meanings expand. Understanding deepens. And with that understanding, we affirm what has always been true: trans women are women. Our existence is not up for debate, and our womanhood does not need permission. 💖🏳️‍⚧️

📣 WAGAYWAY EQUALITY SUPPORTS THE CALL FOR PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY ON HIV!

Wagayway Equality, together with the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of the Philippine National AIDS Council (PNAC), proudly stands behind the Joint-Network Statement supporting the DOH's call to declare HIV as a Public Health Emergency in the Philippines.

For over three decades, civil society has been at the forefront of ensuring a coordinated, rights-based, and inclusive HIV response. Today, we echo this urgent call—not only with words, but with commitment, action, and accountability.

💡 Under the leadership of our very own Founding Head of Wagayway and PNAC CSO representative, Aivan Alvarez, and in solidarity with TLF Share Collective and other partner networks, we reaffirm:

✔️ Our support for the full implementation of the 7th AIDS Medium Term Plan (AMTP7)
✔️ Our push for stronger budget support, localized implementation of RA11166, and meaningful inclusion of young people and key populations
✔️ Our advocacy to sustain and strengthen community-led responses as international HIV financing faces critical transitions

💬 “Nothing about us, without us.” This is more than a slogan—it is our collective battle cry. Let us act now. We already have the blueprint. Let’s implement AMTP7. Let’s end the HIV epidemic. NOW.
