GSIS extends support to learners, turns over donations to Liponpon ES in Isla Verde

In an effort to enhance the learning environment and ensure the safety of school children, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) formally turned over various donations to Liponpon Elementary School located in the scenic island barangay of Isla Verde here today, April 22, 2026.

The turnover ceremony was attended by key education officials from the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Batangas City and the Department of Education Regional Office.

Representing SDO Batangas City were Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Nieves Montalbo, SEPS Dr. Caroline Gayeta, EPS II Ms. Maria Vinnah C. Delgado, DRRM Coordinator Mr. Henry Ramirez, and PDO I Mr. Jesric Brian F. Panaligan.

They were joined by Regional Office representatives Dr. Ramil Ginete, PDO IV and Mr. Wilbert Ulpindo, Regional DRRM Coordinator.

The generous contribution from GSIS is expected to provide much-needed assistance to the school and its learners, particularly those residing in the island community. The donation aims to support both the academic and welfare needs of the students, reinforcing the partnership between the government agency and the education sector.

During the event, officials expressed their gratitude to GSIS led by the Batangas City Branch General Manager, Mrs. Jeelady Isaac and Ma'am Leslie Anne Pangonil,Home Office Representative, for its continued commitment to public service and for remembering the needs of schools in far-flung areas. They emphasized that such initiatives greatly help in maintaining quality education and preparedness within the division.

Liponpon Elementary School Head Teacher IV,Mrs.Rosalie Baja,all teachers, Brgy. Officials and PTA Officers were very grateful for all the donations for the school and learners which marks a positive step toward better facilities and resources for the community.

Sun Life Philippines Donates Solar Lamps to Verde Island Schools as Part of 130th Anniversary Celebration

BATANGAS CITY – In a significant boost to educational resources, Sun Life Philippines officially turned over solar lamps to nine schools on Verde Island, Batangas City, today, April 7, 2026. This initiative is part of Sun Life Philippines' celebration of its 130th anniversary in the Philippines.

The project, which aims to illuminate the learning environments of students, saw a total of 3,500 solar lamps distributed across schools in Talim Island, Antipolo, and Verde Island.

Sun Life Philippines represented by Ms.Melissa Borbon and Mr Harvey Maroyo partnered with Liter of Light for the conceptualization and production of these sustainable solar lamps. The National Museum of the Philippines provided a venue for displaying the solar lamps, while the Department of Education (DepEd) played a crucial role in identifying the student beneficiaries. This collaborative effort underscores a commitment to empowering communities through education and sustainable solutions.

Councilor Andrea F.Macaraig was the representative of the Batangas City Local Government Unit.

DepEd Batangas City was represented by Dr.Caroline Gayeta, SEPS, Ms. Maria Vinnah C.Delgado,EPS II, Mr.Jesric Brian Panaligan, PDO I and Mr Henry Ramirez,PDO II.
