โOn September 21, 1972, Ferdinand Marcos Sr. signed Proclamation No. 1081, placing the Philippines under Martial Law. The years that followed left records of arrests, torture, enforced disappearances, killings, and other human rights violations. The Human Rights Victimsโ Claims Board later recognized 11,103 claimants as eligible for monetary reparations, alongside 125 additional cases determined by the Board itself.

โTo remember is not to remain trapped in the past; it is to understand what happened before deciding what must never be allowed to happen again. As forgetting does not make history disappear, it only makes its lessons easier to lose.
