Research rooted in innovation and scientific inquiry once again brought pride to the Department of Pharmacy as Pharmates were recognized during the MMSU Undergraduate Research Excellence Awards 2026

The study titled “In vitro and In vivo Antihyperglycemic Activity of Bamboo Shoot (Bambusa spinosa) Enriched with Lactobacillus hilgardii Cell Free Supernatant” earned recognition through the efforts of researchers Rachel Anne M. Valera, Danica Jane S. Agni, Shamel Nikkie S. Luis, and John Carlo C. Quimoyog, under the guidance of Prof. Xenia Elika N. Bucao.

Their achievement reflects the growing commitment of MMSU Pharmacy students to research that contributes not only to academic excellence, but also to the advancement of healthcare and scientific innovation.

The JPPhA Psi Chapter proudly recognizes our Pharmates who represented MMSU Pharmacy at the National Patient Counseling Event 2026, Phiel Adrian B. Chelim of 3A and Danielle Pungtilan of 3B, with Ruth Nathalyn T. Diaz as observer. They were guided by their coach, Sir Crystal James T. Polendey, and accompanied by their Level 3 adviser, Ma’am Esther Gabriel.

Through this experience, they strengthened their skills in patient counseling, communication, and clinical application while engaging with fellow pharmacy students from across the country. The event served as a meaningful platform for learning, allowing them to gain insights that extend beyond the competition setting.

These experiences contribute to the continued growth of the department, as the knowledge gained is carried forward and shared with fellow Pharmates. Their participation reflects a commitment to learning, improvement, and patient-centered care.

The Thanksgiving and Testimonial Ceremony for the newly licensed pharmacists of Mariano Marcos State University is currently underway, marking a significant moment of recognition and reflection for the Pharmacy Department.

Following a remarkable performance in the recent licensure examination, highlighted by a high passing rate and the achievement of six topnotchers, today’s ceremony goes beyond celebration. It provides a space where journeys are revisited and the meaning behind each success is shared through stories of perseverance and growth.

As testimonies unfold, each narrative reflects the discipline, resilience, and dedication that defined their path. The event highlights not only individual accomplishments, but the shared experience of a batch that endured challenges and rose together.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲

Endurance is often spoken of as an individual strength, but for Batch Naandur, it became something shared.

Their journey was never easy. Long before the results and recognition, there were days filled with uncertainty, pressure, and moments that tested how far they were willing to go. There were doubts, setbacks, and questions that did not always have immediate answers. Still, they chose to continue.

They endured together.

The name “Naandur” reflects more than resilience. It represents a lived experience. It speaks of persistence in the face of difficulty and the decision to move forward even when the outcome was unclear.

Their journey unfolded during one of the most challenging periods in education. As students, they navigated the demands of pharmacy through online learning during the pandemic, adapting to a system that required them to grasp complex concepts from a distance. It was a time that required patience, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility. Despite these challenges, they remained committed to their goals.

Through years of study, review, and preparation, they built more than academic knowledge. They developed the discipline to stay consistent, the resilience to recover from setbacks, and the determination to see their journey through. These were not formed overnight, but strengthened over time through shared experiences and collective effort.

While recognition may highlight those who reached the highest ranks, this story belongs to the entire batch. Each member carried their own struggles and victories, contributing to a community that supported one another through every stage of the journey. Their success reflects not only individual effort, but the strength of moving forward together.

For the Pharmacy community of Mariano Marcos State University, this moment is a source of pride and reflection. It is a reminder that meaningful achievements are shaped by perseverance, and that growth often happens in moments that are not always seen.
