The Kuratsa Dance Competition is a celebration of Filipino tradition, aiming to promote cultural heritage among the youth. The Kuratsa is a popular courtship folk dance from the Visayas region, known for its playful, romantic, and lively movements.
II. Participants
- Each participating LYDC member/youth organization must be composed of a minimum of 1 pair (1 male and 1 female).
- Only 7 official pair will be accepted, on a first-come, first-served basis.
- A group may include a substitute pair, in case of emergencies.
- The official list of participants must be submitted to the organizing committee at least 5 days before the event.
III. Dance Guidelines
- The performance must strictly follow the traditional Kuratsa style.
- Duration of performance: 3 to 5 minutes only.
- Creative choreography and formations are encouraged, provided they do not distort the cultural essence of the dance.
- Props are allowed but must be safe, relevant, and manageable.
IV. Criteria for Judging
-Ex*****on (Timing, coordination, grace. and projection of movements) - 40%
-Choreography (Creativity, Artistry, style, and originality of dance steps) - 25%
-Costume (Appropriateness, cultural relevance, and visual appeal of traditional attire) - 25%
-Audience Impact (Engagement, energy, and overall impression on the audience) - 10%
