Today, August 20, 2026, the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering students, the Bayaws, came together for a general cleaning activity at the Engineering Building (EB). Through teamwork, creativity, and shared ideas, the students worked hand in hand in organizing, rearranging, and beautifying their rooms in preparation for the new academic year. ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ

A heartfelt thank you to our supportive faculty for their guidance, encouragement, and thoughtful snacks that kept the Bayaws energized throughout the activity! We also extend our sincere appreciation for the additional Smart TV provided for each BSABE year level, a valuable addition that will help enhance our classrooms and support a better learning experience for every Bayaw.

With the hard work and dedication of our Bayaws, the EB is now clean, organized, and ready to welcome the start of classes! ๐Ÿ“š

Day 3 of PANAGTABO 2026 featured meaningful discussions focused on awareness, respect, equality, and the well-being of every student. The day provided opportunities for students to gain knowledge, reflect on important social and legal concerns, and engage in conversations that contribute to building a safe and inclusive academic community.

The morning session featured a discussion led by Atty. Gerime Mae A. Basalo on the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act (R.A. 7877) and the Safe Spaces Act (R.A. 11313). The session emphasized the importance of creating a safe and respectful environment for everyone. Atty. Basalo also engaged the students through questions and discussions, encouraging them to share their understanding, perspectives, and views regarding the provisions and relevance of these laws. The session aimed to equip students with greater awareness of legal issues that may affect young people, particularly concerns that may arise within educational institutions and other communities.

The day also featured a Gender and Development (GAD) Orientation, which provided students with a broader understanding of gender equality, respect for individual differences, and the importance of promoting an inclusive community. The session was led by Queeny B. Abad, who discussed relevant concepts and encouraged students to become more informed and responsible members of the community. The orientation highlighted the significance of understanding gender-related concerns and fostering an environment where everyone is treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.

Through these sessions, Day 3 became an avenue for learning, reflection, and meaningful engagement. Beyond welcoming students into the university community, PANAGTABO 2026 continues to promote awareness, inclusivity, and responsible citizenship among its students.

The Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (IABE) kicked off Day 1 on August 17, 2026 of PANAGTAGBO 2026: Cebu Tech Week of Welcome Festival at CTUโ€“Barili Campus with a busy and meaningful morning. The day started with our students and faculty preparing our festival booth, setting up with enthusiasm and creativity as we readied our space for the celebration ahead.

From there, IABE joined the university-wide Grand Procession of Beginnings, marching together with the rest of the CTUโ€“Barili community as part of the larger opening festivities โ€” which also included the Holy Mass and the formal Opening Ceremony, highlighted by a warm welcome message from Mrs. Escabal, an introduction to this year's theme by Hon. Jiffereld Somerano, and an inspiring message from Dr. Petroey Pascual on CTU's commitment to world-class education.

In the afternoon, IABE held its Student Orientation, welcoming new students into the institute and giving them an overview of what to expect for the school year from academic expectations to the opportunities that await them as future agricultural and biosystems engineers.

โ€ŽIt was a full and fulfilling first day โ€” one that combined preparation, unity, and purpose as IABE officially began the academic year. Here's to a semester rooted in innovation, service, and community.

The Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (IABE) proudly announces another research milestone as Engr. Yvonne P. Elizalde and alumna Cherry Mae M. Pestaรฑo authored a study published in the ASEAN Journal of Scientific and Technological Reports (AJSTR), a Scopus-indexed journal based in Thailand.

The study, entitled "Determination of Sugarcane Maturity and Optimal Harvest Time via UV-Vis Spectrophotometry and Digital Refractometry," was featured in AJSTR's special issue, released on July 11, 2026.

The research presents a science-based approach to determining the optimal harvest time for sugarcane, offering a valuable contribution to improved harvest management practices within the Philippine sugar industry.

This achievement underscores IABE's continued commitment to excellence in research and innovation. It reflects the institute's dedication to producing graduates and faculty members whose work addresses real-world agricultural challenges while contributing meaningfully to the global scientific community. The publication further serves as an inspiration for current and future IABE students to pursue impactful research that advances the field of agricultural and biosystems engineering.
