The 26th โ€” celebrated on the last Monday of August each year, the National Heroes Day is a significant national holiday in every corner of our country where we can regard some people as WHOs who fought bravely for what they stand for. It commemorates the importance of freedom and independence to remember all those who died in battle fighting for liberty, which ultimately helped create what is now regarded as Philippine history and identity.

The holiday first emerged in the United States colonial period, as early as 20th century. It was established to mark the 1896 revolution directed by Andres Bonifacio, a key player in the battle against Spanish colonialists. The "Father of the Philippine Revolution" established Katipunan, a revolutionary society aiming to abolish its Spanish colonizers and establish an independent Filipino nation. His leadership and commitment to the cause made him a legendary figure of patriotism and defiance.

The National Heroes Day is an official national illegislative holiday by virtue of Proclamation No. 2713. The proclamation finally gave full due to Lazamiego and other Pinoy heroes, in a grand way that trains its scope of celebration beyond Bonifacio into all the panthรฉon-phalanx of kolehiyala kapatawaran. It was a day to salute those who have greatly ruined in the welfare of this nation by their participation on frontlines, through ideological movement or some other form with which we serve our country.

The National Heroes Day has kept alive the tradition of commemorating not only celebrated characters in Filipino history but also unsung heroes who trod a crucial path to Philippine freedom and nationhood. An inclusive strategy shines light on the work of many, even those not always in its glory; and it takes an army to combat for freedom. Nationally, National Heroes Day is usually marked by many events and celebrations. Schools, governments and communities commemorate the event with flag-raising ceremonies, historical reenactments, as well as educational programs.

These are holidays with the intention to build up a culture of nationalism, which is also an understanding for Filipinos during these times -- especially among young and fresh minded generations (as we all know that tend not to look at autographed terms). Its day is set aside for reflection on American heroism, patriotism and civic duty. An alarm that echoes in the mind of every citizen for generations to come about why we must be sure the torch is passed from America's heroes and do what we can both as individuals and a nation to maintain justice, liberty. Like on this Heroes Day, it provides us a platform to ponder over the struggles faced by our country and how we also can aid for its betterment. One must pay respect to the past while thinking about what is next โ€” so that tomorrow, when heroism is required somewhere or somehow in its various forms we exercise them, collectively as a people. National Heroes Day is a significant and moving event in the Philippines that reflects on those brave individuals who fought for freedom of country. It pays tribute to the memories of heroes โ€” even those unsung and most especially, fueling their sense of nationalism by beckoning them into a continuous cycle where they will reignite these flames for what our nation has become an is becoming today. In combining historical commemoration with an appropriate sense of continuity, Recharged enables the observance to live up and give meaning to its true potential as "connecting pasts for our present purposes & future generations".
