𝙇𝙊𝙊𝙆! Alpha 'Achievers' Company 39IB Welcomes New Commander

In a time-honored military tradition marking the continuity of leadership, Alpha “Achievers” Company of the 39th Infantry (Smash'Em) Battalion conducted a Change of Command Ceremony at Sitio, Cogon, Brgy. Sinoron, Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur on May 19, 2026.
LTC HECTOR A ESTOLAS INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 39IB presided over the ceremony as CPT JERWIN L ESTEBAN (INF) PA passed the mantle of command to 1LT PHILIP D SERVIDAD (INF) PA.

The tenure of CPT JERWIN L ESTEBAN (INF) PA as Commander of Alpha “Achievers” Company was marked by significant operational accomplishments and the sustained preservation of insurgency-free status across the municipalities of Santa Cruz, Hagonoy, Padada, Sulop, Kiblawan, Malalag and Digos City. Under his decisive leadership and strategic direction, the unit successfully maintained peace, stability, and public security within its area of operations, further consolidating the hard-earned gains of the government’s peace and development initiatives in Davao del Sur. His stewardship strengthened the company’s operational effectiveness while fostering stronger relationships with local communities, partner stakeholders and government agencies.

In his farewell address, CPT ESTEBAN humbly attributed the success of the unit not to individual leadership alone, but to the collective discipline, commitment, and unwavering dedication of the officers, enlisted personnel, and CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) members of Alpha Company. He likewise emphasized the indispensable role of inter-agency cooperation, stakeholder collaboration, and the steadfast support of local government units and partner agencies in enabling the company to effectively carry out its mandate of safeguarding peace and security in the province.

Formally assuming command of the company, 1LT SERVIDAD expressed his sincere gratitude for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him by the Battalion’s leadership. He described his new responsibility not merely as an assignment, but as a God-given stewardship and a solemn commitment to serve both the organization and the people. With humility and determination, he pledged to lead the company with professionalism, integrity, and compassion, ensuring the balance between decisive mission accomplishment and genuine concern for the welfare, morale, and development of the troops under his command.

In his keynote message, LTC ESTOLAS commended CPT ESTEBAN for his exemplary service, notable operational achievements, and invaluable contributions to the continued success of the Smash’Em Battalion. He highlighted the outgoing commander’s dedication and commitment in advancing the unit’s mission and preserving peace within the company’s area of responsibility. Expressing full confidence in the leadership capability of 1LT SERVIDAD, LTC ESTOLAS likewise called on the personnel of Alpha “Achievers” Company to remain united, disciplined, and mission-oriented in sustaining the high standards, professionalism, and legacy of excellence that define the Smash’Em Battalion.

The Change of Command Ceremony was witnessed by Hon. Jose Nelson Z. Sala Sr., Municipal Mayor of Santa Cruz, alongside with partner agencies, local government representatives, Youth for Peace Movement partners and community stakeholders, whose presence symbolized their continued trust, unwavering support, and strong partnership with the Philippine Army in promoting lasting peace, security, and development throughout Davao del Sur.

Filled with bittersweet feeling and pride, the peace champions across the province of Davao del Sur have convened to celebrate the outgoing and incoming commanding officers of the Alpha Company, 39th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army on May 19, 2026 at the Alpha Company Headquarters. This event marked the continuing effort of the army to maintain peace and order and to rally peacebuilding initiatives towards sustainable development and excellence.

The turnover ceremony, as attended by important people and partner stakeholders and agencies, highlighted the collaborative efforts signifying the whole-of-community-approach in responding to civic-military endeavors and community development programs. With this, the YFPM-DavSur spearheaded by its president, Abigail Baysac, supported the said change of command to establish an empowered partnership guided by nationalism and youth advancement.

Monumental to the activity is the first ever Novelty Peace Champion Award which has been given to the outgoing commanding officer, CPT. Jerwin L. Esteban, a symbol of undeniable contribution to youth empowerment and in instilling the youth the quality of leadership skills that's strengthened through the test of time.

This endeavor symbolizes teamwork and collaboration in our pursuit of peace and solidarity. There may be a change of leader, but the love of service and the spirit of volunteerism echo loudly enabling a steadfast unity and collective action.

Brgy. Poblacion, Makilala, Cotabato — Demonstrating a strong commitment to public service and community welfare, the 39th Infantry “Smash’em” Battalion, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Region XII and various private medical institutions, successfully conducted an Outreach Program and Medical Mission entitled 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄 (Community Assessment Revisitation & Engagement) at Sitio Marang, Barangay Luayon, Makilala, Cotabato.

The activity was spearheaded by the 39IB together with Ms. Evelyn B. Pinongcos, CPA, Regional Executive Assistant of DSWD XII; Mr. Ryan D. Balanza, Focal Person of DSWD Region XII, who also provided 3 Shuttle Services for the team; and the Project Medical Care Team headed by Doc Cherry Mae S. Embay.

Joining the initiative were medical professionals and volunteers from Dr. Jorge P. Royeca City Hospital, Allah Valley Medical Specialist Center Inc., and the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians Inc. Also supporting the activity were the Department of Agriculture XII, which provided seedlings; Beauty With A Purpose (BWAPism), headed by Sir Edwin Luis; Smile for Everyone Foundation Philippines, headed by Ma’am Honelyn Bucabal; and Caring Heart, which provided slippers and school supplies.

The outreach program delivered a wide range of free services and assistance to the residents of Sitio Marang, Barangay Luayon. These included free haircuts, dental services, medical consultations, medicines, circumcision services, slippers, clothing, school supplies, and food packs from DSWD Field Office Region XII. A feeding program and face-painting activities were also conducted to bring joy and support to children in the community.

The initiative aimed not only to provide essential healthcare and social services but also to strengthen the spirit of cooperation among government agencies, private institutions, and the local community.

ALPHA “ACHIEVERS” COMPANY, 39TH INFANTRY “SMASH ’EM” BATTALION, SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED AN OUTREACH PROGRAM AIMED AT BRINGING HOPE, JOY, AND SUPPORT TO CHILDREN AND FARMERS THROUGH MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES.

Sta Cruz, Davao Del Sur– May 09, 2026 — Alpha Company, 39th Infantry (SMASH’EM) Battalion, in partnership with LGU Sta Cruz, Davao Del Sur, Youth for Peace Movement TALBOS- Sta Cruz, Davao Del Sur Chapter, Caring Hearts a Non-Profit Organization and Prime Xynergies Food Corporation conducted PROJECT AMBAG “Aksyon na Matinud-anon Bisan gamay Apan Gasa” at Sitio Garuk, Brgy Sibulan, Sta Cruz, Davao Del Sur.

The activity brought joy and hope to the young learners through the distribution of school supplies and the conduct of fun-filled games that encouraged camaraderie, confidence, and happiness among the children. At the same time, food packs and farming tools were provided to the members of Garuk Multi-Sectoral Farmer’s Association (GAMSFA) to support their livelihood and contribute to the improvement of agricultural productivity within the area.

The outreach program highlighted the importance of collaboration between the military, youth organizations, and private stakeholders in building peaceful, resilient, and progressive communities. More than the assistance provided, the activity strengthened the spirit of volunteerism, solidarity, and shared responsibility toward nation-building and community development.

|𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊| The Youth for Peace Movement - Davao del Sur Chapter commits to Project HATOD

The Youth for Peace Movement - Davao del Sur Chapter (YFPM Davao del Sur), headed by Ms. Abigail Baysac, attended the launching and MOA signing of Project HATOD, together with the 39th Infantry Battalion, led by Battalion Commander LTC Hector Estolas; and Bravo Company Commanding Officer 1LT Carl John C. Coronel, conducted at Balutakay Integrated School on April 6, 2026.

Project HATOD aligning the Department of Education’s ARAL Summer Program, brought together volunteer teachers from Balutakay Integrated School, Youth for Peace Movement Davao del Sur, and partner organizations to deliver tutorial and remedial sessions closer to students’ homes.

This initiative, spearheaded by Ma’am Charity Sayson, Principal II, institutionalizes ita objectives of bringing learning to far-flung communities of the school to answer the problem of the learners in travelling for several kilometers just to attend the said learning sessions. This further reflects YFPM’s continuing commitment to education and community service.

With a unified vision of delivering quality and accessible education to all learners, Balutakay Integrated School and its partner stakeholders uphold their commitment of collaboration and community development in pursuit of collective success.

Back then, volunteers walked kilometers across elevated mountains just to reach the community—driven by a mission to serve, teach, and bring hope. 🥾⛰️

On May 1, 2026, they retraced those same trails and returned to 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐥, proving that every journey comes full circle. This time, each step carried deeper meaning—reminding us that every step we take can change lives and create lasting impact. 🤍

Through this initiative, we continue to turn small steps into meaningful miles—teaching basic education and empowering the children of the community with brighter opportunities. 📚✨

This special journey also celebrates the birthday of 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚 “𝐓𝐄𝐎𝐍𝐆”, who chose to mark another year of life through service—returning to the very place where it all began. 🎉

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | Unity in Action: Alpha Company (39IB), Kiblawan LGU, YFPM-Davao del Sur Chapter, Bansalan Cooperative, and Goodlife Foundation lead a joint community outreach program

May 1, 2026 — Alpha Company, 39th Infantry (SMASH’EM) Battalion, spearheaded a comprehensive Community Outreach Program in Sitio Latil, Brgy. Abnate, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur. In collaboration with the Kiblawan Local Government Unit, the Youth for Peace Movement (YFPM) - Davao del Sur Chapter, Bansalan Cooperative, and the Goodlife Foundation, the initiative delivered essential services and vital support to one of the region’s far-flung communities and its Indigenous People (IP) members.

The activity started with the distribution of slippers, bags, toys, and used clothes, free haircut services and feeding activity for the children. The LGU Kiblawan also conducted community needs assessment survey and distributed corn fertilizers for the members of the Latil Peace And Development Volunteers Farmers Association (LAPADEVFA)

This initiative stands as a testament to the enduring mission of Alpha Company, 39th Infantry Battalion. By bridging the gap between government services and remote areas, the unit has profoundly reaffirmed its commitment to the pillars of peace and development. Such engagements do more than provide immediate relief; they foster a culture of mutual trust and cooperation, strengthening the resilient ties between the military and the civilian populace.
