— and with him, the last hurrah of the year. One final gathering before the year takes its bow, where laughter echoed, bamboos danced, and the campus felt a little warmer than usual. This year’s Students’ Day and General Christmas Program was a full-circle moment that wrapped the year in lights, cheers, and memories ✨

The SSLG of Banban National High School sends its endless love (and the sweetest kind of joy) to Sir Nolie C. Gerardo for the free ice cream to everyone! A proof that generosity really does taste better 🍦🤍

And a heartfelt thank you to all our food stall partners who said yes to our invitations and helped make the celebration extra special.

Today, we celebrate National Heroes Day — a time to reflect on the courage of those who came before us, who stood firm in the face of oppression, and who gave their lives so that freedom could take root in our homeland.

From the battlefields of history to the quiet sacrifices of everyday patriots, we remember that heroism comes in many forms. Each brave act, each selfless choice, has helped shape the nation we proudly call home.

Let us carry their spirit forward — in how we serve, how we speak, and how we protect what they once fought for. May we live not only in remembrance, but in purpose.

Sentinels making history! 🏆

JUST IN: The whole Banban National High School congratulates Patrice Jodea Guiang, Xavier Yancy Cañeda, and Jheneil Ruth Lumabao for winning the Championship in the 'Tinig ng Kabataan, Lakas ng Kinabukasan, Para sa Bagong Pilipinas' debate. Lumabao was also named Best Debater. Kudos to Coaches Jerick Guiang and Ivy Mariel Romero, and to School Principal Dr. Garry M. Dubla

As we celebrate the 127th Philippine Independence Day, let’s continue to learn from our history and carry its lessons forward. 🇵🇭

Did you know? ⭐️

In 1935, with the approval of the United States, the Commonwealth of the Philippines was established, and Manuel L. Quezon became its first president. It wasn’t until after World War II that full independence was granted by the U.S. on July 4, 1946.

But why do we now celebrate Independence Day on June 12 instead of July 4?

In 1962, President Diosdado Macapagal emphasized that true independence should come from a nation's own declaration and not from another country’s recognition. Believing in that principle, he officially moved the celebration to June 12, the day General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed freedom from Spanish rule in 1898.

This decision was later made law through Republic Act No. 4166 in 1964.
