𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 | 𝐒𝐕𝐎 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫

Sagibin Volunteer Organization (SVO) joined the “Leading for Impact: Strengthening Leadership and Governance of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Aklan” seminar held on August 12–13, 2026, at the Gov. Corazon L. Cabagnot Tourism and Training Center in Kalibo, Aklan, with President Deniel Nila Patricio and Vice President for External Affairs Omar Nalaunan representing the organization.

The two-day seminar aimed to strengthen the leadership and organizational skills of CSO leaders and enhance their participation in local development. Among the event’s guests were Mr. Emmanuel Areño, Chairman of the Iloilo City People’s Council and ICODE, and Ms. Divina Luz J. Lopez, PhD, PPC, Gov-CDR Project.

Organized by the Provincial Government of Aklan through the Provincial Planning and Development Office, in partnership with the GOV-CDR Project of Global Affairs Canada and Alinea International, the program covered “Leading Self and Organizations” on Day 1 and “Leading Communities and Creating Impact” on Day 2, focusing on leadership, advocacy, and collaborative governance.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: Sagibin Volunteer Organization (SVO) Adviser, Dr. John R. Orbista, took part in an online meeting with Radyo Agri 90.1 FM, Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), and 100.9 DYMT Community Radio Station of Aklan State University on August 4, 2026, via Zoom to discuss a potential broadcast partnership. The initiative includes sharing episodes, radio plugs, and joint airing of agricultural programs through ASU’s official station, aiming to expand agricultural information dissemination and strengthen SUC linkages across the Visayas.

𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐲𝐨 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐤𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐓𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩

Upang mapalawak ang ugnayan at matukoy ang mga posibleng broadcast partnership, nagsagawa ng online meeting ang Aklan State University (ASU), katuwang ang Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), at Radyo Agri 90.1 FM noong August 4, 2026 sa pamamagitan ng Zoom.

Sa pangunguna nina Dr. John R. Orbista, Dr. Michael T. Ibisate, Melpha M. Abello, at Dr. Nenia N. Bohulano, ibinahagi ng ASU ang ilang mungkahing maaaring maging batayan ng partnership ng Radyo Agri 90.1 FM at ng opisyal na istasyon ng unibersidad, ang DYMT 100.9 Community Radio.

Kabilang din sa mga mungkahi ang pagpapalitan ng mga broadcast episode at radio plugs, gayundin ang pagsasagawa ng sabayang pag-ere ng mga programang nakatuon sa pagsuporta sa sektor ng agrikultura, partikular sa farm mechanization, postharvest technologies, at agricultural extension.

Nagpasalamat sina Radyo Agri 90.1 FM Station Manager Jannie Gracelyn A. Sumague at Program Lead Ma. Bernadeth P. Grospe sa pagkonsidera sa himpilan bilang posibleng broadcast partner. Kinilala rin nila ang mahalagang papel ng PNVSCA, na kinatawan nina Alyssa Maria A. Villa at Michael Jake A. Nobleza, sa pag-uugnay ng dalawang organisasyon.

Inaasahang makatutulong ang inisyatibong ito sa pagpapalawak ng saklaw ng broadcast ng Radyo Agri 90.1 FM at sa pagpapatibay ng ugnayan nito sa iba pang State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) sa Visayas.

Welcoming one of the country's leading advocates of volunteerism, the Sagibin Volunteer Organization (SVO) assisted Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) Executive Director Donald James D. Gawe, CESO III, during his official visit to Aklan State University–Banga Campus on July 13, 2026. The visit served as an opportunity to further strengthen the partnership between PNVSCA and Aklan State University in advancing volunteerism and community development initiatives.

As the University's student volunteer organization, SVO's former and newly elected officers received Executive Director Donald James D. Gawe, CESO III, upon his arrival and accompanied him throughout his official engagements. The visit commenced with a courtesy call to the Office of the President, where he was warmly received by Dr. Luchelyn A. Beltran, on behalf of the SUC President III, Dr Jeffrey A. Clarin. He then proceeded to DYMT Radio Station for a meeting with Dr. Nenia N. Bohulano, Director for Extension and Community Services (ECS), in preparation for the proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between PNVSCA and DYMT Community Radio.

The visit reflected the continuing collaboration between PNVSCA and Aklan State University in promoting volunteerism while recognizing the valuable role of student volunteers in supporting the University's extension and community engagement efforts.

As Aklan officially launched its province-wide volunteerism movement, the Sagibin Volunteer Organization (SVO) participated in the 𝗔𝗸𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻: 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 program held on July 13, 2026, at the ABL Sports and Cultural Center in Kalibo, Aklan. The event, officially launched by Governor Jose Enrique “Joen” M. Miraflores, gathered government agencies, academic institutions, volunteer organizations, and individuals united in promoting volunteerism. The program also featured Dr. Donald James D. Gawe, Executive Director of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), as one of the guest speakers.

During the event, SVO officers prepared and facilitated SVO’s information booth, showcasing the organization’s mission, volunteer initiatives, and community programs. Through the booth, they introduced SVO’s advocacy, highlighted its community engagement efforts, and shared the organization’s commitment to fostering volunteerism among participants.

The program was implemented pursuant to General Ordinance No. 003-2025, enacted by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Aklan on November 26, 2025. Anchored on this initiative, the Province of Aklan continues to encourage every Aklanon to actively participate in volunteerism and contribute to community development and collective action.
