The ASU-Banga Red Cross Youth Council (RCYC) would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Katherine C. Villaran for her unwavering service as the Adviser of the ASU-Banga RCYC.

For the past two years, the ASU-Banga RCYC has been blessed with an adviser whose dedication led to a meaningful direction of the organization. With your presence, concerns were never held in fear but rather supported with utmost love and care. Through every activity, you showed how to be a true volunteer that takes action with sincerity so that later in life, we will carry it seriously.

As you turn the page to a new chapter in your journey, we root for the best things that are coming while also look back with gratefulness for the precious moments and memories you shared with the council. 𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘬𝘩𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘯 𝘌𝘤𝘰-𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘒𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘣𝘰 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘒𝘐𝘐 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘌𝘤𝘰-𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘐𝘣𝘢𝘫𝘢𝘺?

The place are surrounded by tall, arching stilt roots called mangroves, or bakauan. But aside from the serenity they provide,, mangroves play a crucial role in defending our coasts. They help block the surge of waves and prevent coastal erosion. They also serve as a home for young fish, crabs, and birds who grow safely in these coastal wetlands. Through their rich soils, mangroves store huge amounts of carbon that helps to combat climate change.

Moreover, according to a study, the Philippines is home to around 35 to 40 true mangrove species out of the roughly 70 species known globally. This explains why our country is globally recognized as a hotspot for marine biodiversity..

Today marks the Eleventh Inernational Day for the Conservation of Mangrove Ecosystem, this reminds us that many people continue to fight for these trees to multiply and thrive in number despite the continues illegal destruction of mangroves.

We, the Red Cross Youth, also stands for this cause through planting new mangroves and joining activities that shows our commitment to environmental protection and community service.

As we remember this day, may we not only celebrate the progress made for each mangrove, but also protect the roots that keep them firm, so the next generation will not only have a greener future, but also a healthier one.

ASU Banga RCYC participated in the 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 on July 18–19 at the Philippine Red Cross–Aklan Chapter Headquarters.

Over the two days, 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐥 𝐀. 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬, ASU Banga RCYC Chairman; 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐳 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐑. 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚, Youth Peer Education Officer; and 𝐉𝐚𝐲 𝐌. 𝐙𝐚𝐭𝐚, YAPE Officer, attended various sessions and learned important communication skills and strategies needed to carry out their duties in humanitarian service.

𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙥𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙜𝙗𝙖𝙝𝙞𝙣 𝟐.𝟎 𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚-𝙎𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨.

Delivering valuable insights, the Red Cross Youth Council conducted Pagpakigbahin 2.0 today, July, 7 2026, at Mangan National Highschool to equip students with proper preventive measures and promote their safety, and welfare.

With the theme, " Sharing Knowledge for Ready Youth," Mrs. Ailyn R. Ropa, school head of MNHS, highlighted the importance of active listening in her opening remarks while encouraging students to learn new lessons lessons that will greatly contribute to their communities.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jayson Sta. Maria, President of the Red Cross Youth Council, introduced the Fundamental Principles of Red Cross, its background and the importance of building youth leaders through humanitarian service.

Moreover, Mr. Jules A. Mationg, Vice Chairman of the Red Cross Youth Council, delivered his message on Dengue Awareness and preventions against mosquito-borne diseases. He also emphasized that preventive measures if exercised are better than cure.

Subsequently, Mr. John Rocel A. Barrios, the Chairman of the Red Cross Youth Banga Council discussed the rights and welfare of children in accordance with Child Protection Policy. Mr. Rocel also added that "not all trends are worth trending," in times of continuous problems.

Furthermore, Ms. Ermalyn Jade Flores and Ms. Jenebhy Nillosa, shared their experiences and skills on first aid essetials, ensuring students learn about the proper response in choking, wounds, burn, and fainting.

Additionally, the event concluded with Mr. John Rocel Barrios expressing his gratitude to the school, student's participation, and volunteers for the said event.
