Our generation has unprecedented access to knowledge of both fiqh (jurisprudence) and สฟaqฤซdah (theology). Yet despite this, it often feels as though our deeds lack the barakah (divine blessings) that characterized the actions of earlier generations -- people who, by comparison, possessed far less formal knowledge in these disciplines.
Perhaps the reason lies not in a deficiency of knowledge, but in what we have neglected. While we give too much attention to fiqh and สฟaqฤซdah, we often overlook the third marแนญabah of our Dฤซn -- al-Iแธฅsฤn, the soil from which true sincerity (al-ikhlฤแนฃ), certainty (al-yaqฤซn), and consistent action (taแนญbฤซq) grow.
Our predecessors may not have received structured education, but the sincerity of their hearts, the firmness of their conviction, and their embodiment of the little knowledge they possessed were unparalleled.
It was this lived iแธฅsฤn that infused their deeds with barakah, not the volume of information they carried.
