The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Pederasyon of Balo-i, Lanao del Norte, organized a week-long youth-focused event called โBalo-i Linggo ng Kabataan 2: Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.โ It featured the National Youth Commission (NYC) - Cagayan De Oro (CDO) Officeโs Local Monitoring and MOV-ing Forward Service Caravan as part of the series of activities.
The event opening of Balo-i Linggo ng Kabataan (BLNK) was held last July 30, 2025, where Hon. Salman H. Ali, SK Pederasyon President, warmly welcomed the participants from the SK barangay councils and youth organizations in the municipality. He expressed his gratitude for everyoneโs presence, especially to the NYC-CDO Area Office for attending. He shared his excitement and appreciation for everyoneโs presence, urging them to make the most of the activities throughout the BLNK month.
Mr. Mohaymen Ali Rosol, representative of Balo-i Municipal Mayor Hon. Madid Elias Lope Ali, gave an inspirational message, where he highlighted mental health as a major concern faced by the youth. He called upon the young leaders present in the activity to work together to address this critical issue and provide a supportive environment for the youth.
Ms. Karenne B. Aรฑover, Head of the NYC-CDO Area Office, emphasized that the Linggo ng Kabataan celebration is not just a commemoration but a call to action, as she also said, โEvery project you lead, every voice you raise, and every idea you bring to life contributes to a future where no Filipino is left behind.โ She urged the youth of Balo-i to lead with courage, passion, and purpose, while she mentioned various local and international programs offered by NYC that are designed to empower young people through these diverse opportunities. She encouraged participants to actively engage with NYC's resources and initiatives, and discussed the importance of registering under the Commissionโs Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP) and perusing the SK WebPortal for SKs, Local Youth Development Offices (LYDOs), and Local Youth Development Councils (LYDCs). Also, Ms. Jessa P. Tinaco discussed the integral features of the SK Web Portal and the submission of data status.
The NYC-CDO Area Office commends the SK Pederasyon and LYDO of Balo-i for its dedication to creating platforms where young people can lead meaningful action and contribute to nation-building at the grassroots level. NYC remains steadfast in encouraging more youth to participate in various leadership and development programs that will empower them to be more engaged with their communities, barangays, and municipalities.
