Hagonoy has been placed under a State of Calamityโnot because the water is simply rising, but because lives, homes, livelihoods, and entire communities are being pushed to their limits.
Behind every flooded road is a family waiting for rescue. Behind every submerged home is a livelihood being lost. Behind every evacuation is a community asking a question that should never have to be asked: Kailan ba magiging safe ang aming bayan?
Flood control is not a luxury. It is protection. It is preparedness. It is a responsibility.
Public funds intended for disaster prevention and response must translate into real protection for the peopleโnot just figures on paper. Every project, every peso, and every decision must be met with transparency, accountability, and genuine service.
Because when communities are drowning, the response cannot be silence. When people are suffering, the answer cannot be indifference. And when public funds are meant to protect the public, THEY MUST SERVE THE PUBLIC.
Hagonoy deserves more than a bangka during a flood. It deserves a future where that boat is no longer the only thing standing between a family and the rising waters.
