A collaborative action plan involving key stakeholders and residents towards the preservation of the Community Based Micro-Watershed, managed by people who care deeply for nature. This initiative was conducted over three days in Barangay L. Pimentel, led by the Barangay officials, Barangay Health Workers (BHW), the Organic Vegetable Grower Association, and various sectors of the community.
It aims to address the threats and issues facing the micro watershed and to further strengthen the management of its natural resources. During the activity, Daluhay shared the data collected from the Participatory Water Characterization and Vulnerability Assessment, which included local residents. Following this, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) presented the necessary regulations for establishing a Community-Based Micro Watershed Management Plan, focusing on the DENR Guidelines and Procedures for Micro-Watershed Management Plan and Integrated Micro-Watershed Management Plan. This helped participants better understand the laws, responsibilities, and proper procedures in watershed management. After the discussions, the participants demonstrated a deeper appreciation for how to protect and sustain their watershed.
The Planning and Workshops were led by Sir Daniel Amores (Community Development and Networking Officer/Project Coordinator), from the formulation of the program and objectives to be achieved through participatory and thorough planning. The participants actively engaged in formulating the Mission, Vision, and Goals, Identifying and Prioritizing Issues, SWOT Analysis, and Stakeholder Analysis—key highlights that helped identify priority concerns, partnerships, and strategies for watershed protection. Through these activities, practical and community-led plans for the long-term preservation and management of the watershed were developed. We sincerely thank the BLGU of Barangay Pimentel, led by Capt. Zylene Amatorio-Saura and the barangay councilors, for their strong support and leadership.
This activity reminds us that protecting our watershed is not just a responsibility, but a shared journey. When people plan together, learn together, and act together, we move closer to a future where our watershed is managed sustainably and responsibly.
