𝗠𝗖𝗣 - 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

As registered member of the Civil Society Organizations in the Municipality of Balangiga, Youth for Safety - Eastern Samar chapter participated during Magna Carta of the Poor - Local Poverty Reduction Action Plan (LPRAP) Formulation Workshop which took place in the Civic Center of Giporlos, Eastern Samar and participated by the LGUs and CSOs from Lawaan, Balangiga, Giporlos and Quinapondan, Eastern Samar on July 6-7, 2026.

This workshop enabled discussions on observed conditions in the community which causes and contributes to poverty as well as its root causes, where conditions were categorized under the 5 fundamental rights to highest attainable standard of Health, Quality Education, Adequate Housing, Decent Work and Adequate Food. Additionally, the CSOs in collaboration with the LGUs, came up with proposed Projects, Programs and Activities (PPAs) that aims to address the identified conditions and its target beneficiaries.

The organization is thankful to the National Anti-Poverty Reduction Commission and the LGU of Balangiga for this opportunity and platform that enables members of the community to share their voices, perspectives and insights on issues that hamper community members from attaining their rights to a quality life. 𝘈𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘴𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩!

𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Y4S - Eastern Samar chapter represented by Ms. Christine Joy Sasi, Youth Mobilizer participated during World Vision's Organizational Capacity Self-Assessment on July 2-3, 2026 held at Hotel Alejandro, Tacloban City which was attended by several civil society organizations from Balangiga, Eastern Samar and Leyte Province. Through the activities and discussions, the participants reflected on the potential, seeing possibilities and appreciating the growth of participants as they engaged on community and self-development work in their respective organizations. Also discussed were the dimensions of organizational capacity and the partnership design of World Vision.

𝗬𝟰𝗦 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

On March 22, 2026 (Sunday), Y4S conducted the Local General Assembly held at JCSFCC Brgy. Poblacion 1, Balangiga, Eastern Samar. The event was participated by Y4S members, church leaders from JCSFCC and youth & children community members.

This local youth assembly marked the genesis of the new set of Y4S local youth officers in the province that will lead the organization to achieving its vision and mission for the betterment and positive growth of children and youth in the community.

Community Stakeholders Unite: Psychological First Aid Training by World Vision

The Youth for Safety - Eastern Samar chapter took part during the Psychological First Aid Training organized and facilitated by World Vision held at Hotel Alejandro, Tacloban City. Y4S Youth Mobilizer Ms. Christine Joy Sasi attended the said training along with several representatives from the different sectors in Balangiga who are working directly with the children and adolescent youth — LGU representatives from the office of Local Youth Development, Rural Health Unit, Municipal Police Station's (MPS) Women and Child Protection Desk (WCPD), school heads and teachers from DepEd Balangiga, representatives from the Barangay Local Government Unit, representatives from faith-based organizations as well as community volunteers of World Vision.

Through this 3-day training, participants were able to learn how faith and spirituality is essential to mental health especially in the Philippine context, also highlighted in the discussion were the lessons on how people of faith from the Bible responded to the most challenging seasons of their lives while serving God. Consequently, the concept of psychological first aid, self-care tips, grounding and relaxing techniques were taught and practiced by the participants during the duration of the training.

The organization is grateful to World Vision for this opportunity to engage in learning with fellow community workers in order to create a safe and nurturing community for the children and youth.

Y4S Eastern Samar facilitated today, January 24, 2026 the Rollout of Y4S Operations Handbook to Y4S members and new members alike with the aim to formally orient members of the organization of the said handbook and its practical applications.

Also in attendance are youth leaders of JCSFCC church and the Chairperson of the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Poblacion One, Balangiga E. Samar, Hon. Dominador Alensuas, Jr.

The organization is grateful to everyone for the efforts to continually strengthen the partnerships, align our shared vision of empowering the next generation.

•To strengthen collaboration among the youth, leaders from faith-based and community-based organizations, and stakeholders in advancing youth- and child-centered initiatives.
