Community Stakeholders Unite: Psychological First Aid Training by World Vision
The Youth for Safety - Eastern Samar chapter took part during the Psychological First Aid Training organized and facilitated by World Vision held at Hotel Alejandro, Tacloban City. Y4S Youth Mobilizer Ms. Christine Joy Sasi attended the said training along with several representatives from the different sectors in Balangiga who are working directly with the children and adolescent youth โ LGU representatives from the office of Local Youth Development, Rural Health Unit, Municipal Police Station's (MPS) Women and Child Protection Desk (WCPD), school heads and teachers from DepEd Balangiga, representatives from the Barangay Local Government Unit, representatives from faith-based organizations as well as community volunteers of World Vision.
Through this 3-day training, participants were able to learn how faith and spirituality is essential to mental health especially in the Philippine context, also highlighted in the discussion were the lessons on how people of faith from the Bible responded to the most challenging seasons of their lives while serving God. Consequently, the concept of psychological first aid, self-care tips, grounding and relaxing techniques were taught and practiced by the participants during the duration of the training.
The organization is grateful to World Vision for this opportunity to engage in learning with fellow community workers in order to create a safe and nurturing community for the children and youth.
