In celebration of their annual Criminology Day, cadets of Bataan Heroes College proudly united on April 24 to display their skills and talents through a series of dynamic performances. Precision and discipline took center stage in the fancy drill and silent drill exhibitions, where synchronized movements reflected their rigorous training and unwavering focus.

Beyond form and coordination, the cadets also demonstrated readiness for real-world challenges through first aid and emergency response, rifle exhibition, and fire drill exhibitions. Each presentation highlighted not only their technical competence but also their commitment to service, showcasing the preparedness and responsibility expected of future public safety professionals.

Reflecting years of sacrifice, discipline, and unwavering perseverance, the cadets stood tall and resolute, turning their Criminology Day into a defining milestone toward serving justice and creating meaningful change in the community.

Cadets, faculty, and alumni of Bataan Heroes College-Criminology Department convened on April 24 to celebrate their annual Criminology Day.

Anchored on the theme “Advancing Knowledge, Upholding Justice and Ensuring Peace: The Transformative Role of Criminology Education,” Philippine Coast Guard Academy Supt. Commodore Paolo Abejuela PCG, who served as the guest of honor, reminded the cadets of their purpose and role in society.

“To advance knowledge is to continually seek truth and understanding in a complex and evolving society. To uphold justice is to stand firm in your principles even when convenience or pressure tempts you otherwise. And to ensure peace is to become a source of stability, order, and compassion in the communities you will one day serve,” he expressed.

“As you move forward in your journey, I encourage you to explore opportunities where you can truly make a difference,” Abejuela added.

Further, he emphasized to the cadets that integrity means choosing what is right, even when it is difficult or unpopular.

“As you walk this path, always remember a simple yet powerful truth: doing the right thing is often the most difficult choice you will have to make. Sabi nga ni Martin Luther King Jr., ‘The time is always right to do what is right’—tandaan niyo yan,” he said.

“There will be moments when the right decision will not be the popular one, when it will test your character, your patience, and your courage. And in those moments, you may be questioned, you may be criticized, you may be even scrutinized by many. But always keep this in mind: as long as you know in your heart that you are doing what is right, stand firm and hold your ground because true public service is not seeking approval, it is upholding what is just even when it’s hard,” Abjuela added.

Meanwhile, Regional Exemplary Passers of the recent Criminologists Licensure Examination received recognition alongside outgoing officers of the Department Student Government-Criminal Justice Education.

Select cadet officers were also pinned with the rank of insignia and recognized at the event.

Sa likod ng bawat serbisyong ating natatanggap ay ang mga manggagawang walang sawang kumikilos—tahimik ngunit matatag na lumalaban para sa nakabubuhay na sahod, disenteng trabaho, at tunay na pagbabago sa sistema.

Sila ang nagpapatakbo sa lipunan, ngunit sila rin ang unang naaapektuhan sa bawat krisis—patuloy na pasan ang bigat ng araw-araw na pamumuhay, at madalas na naiiwan sa kabila ng kanilang sakripisyo. Sa kabila nito, patuloy silang kumakayod, umaasa, at lumalaban para sa mas makatarungang bukas.

Kaya’t ang paggawa ay hindi dapat manatili sa gilid, kundi itinatampok at kinikilala sa sentro ng ating lipunan.

Pagpupugay sa mga manggagawang Pilipino ngayong Araw ng Manggagawa, at sa kanilang walang humpay na pakikibaka araw-araw.

In an unfortunate turn of events, the Miting de Avance (MDA) of the Supreme Student Government (SSG) was cut short due to a communication error, April 21.

SSG Adviser Valiant Job Rafael explained that there was a delay on their end, resulting in the interruption of the Facebook livestream.

“Meron kasing interval yung Google [meet], merong delay ‘yung livestream. So ‘yung naging problema, the one who did the live thought na tapos na dahil tapos na ang Google meeting; in-end na rin niya ‘yung nasa live,” said Rafael.

He also expressed that the person tasked with the Facebook livestream had already apologized for the mistake.

The MDA’s shift to online was to accommodate the candidates’ concerns regarding the final examination.

Further, due to the abrupt interruption, the open forum portion of the event was not conducted. Nevertheless, Rafael said he instructed the Election Committee (ELECOM) to gather questions from the livestream’s comment section to be answered by the candidates.

“Sabi ko nga doon, you get questions from the comments to answer… para masagot kung ano ang mga tanong ng mga estudyante dahil karapatan nilang marinig kung ano ang sagot ng mga kandidato na humahabol.”

Meanwhile, Rafael recognized that the issue requires a formal statement from the SSG.

“I advised them kung ano ‘yung mga necessary na kailangang gawin. But I think one of the problem kasi is all the ELECOM [members] are graduating students, and meron tayong final clearances. But sinabi ko sa kanila, if you can, let’s post para aware ang school, aware ang mga constituents ninyo on what happened. Para magkaroon tayo ng transparency, para walang miscommunication.”

The SSG has yet to release an official statement regarding the issue.

The election for officers is still ongoing and will close this Sunday, April 26, at 11:59 p.m.

Sa pamamagitan ng kanyang pluma at papel, binigyang-buhay ni Balagtas ang damdamin, pakikibaka, at talino ng mga Pilipino. Ang kanyang mga obra, tulad ng Florante at Laura, Orosman at Zafira, at La India Elegante, ay hindi lamang mga kuwento, kundi mga salamin ng lipunan noong panahon ng Espanyol.

Higit pa sa kanyang mga akda, iniwan ni Balagtas ang isang pamana—isang matibay na impluwensya na humubog at nagpayaman sa panitikang Pilipino na patuloy nating ipinagmamalaki hanggang sa kasalukuyan.
