π—šπ—’ π—©π—˜π—šπ—”π—‘, so no chicks will be born only to be seen as useless by the egg industry.

Every egg laid for commercial production comes at a cost that many consumers never see. In the egg industry, male chicks cannot lay eggs and are considered economically unprofitable. As a result, millions of day-old male chicks around the world are killed shortly after hatching.

An animal is not a toy. It is not a prop for entertainment. It is not something to be humiliated, intoxicated, or subjected to suffering for the amusement of others.

A circulating video allegedly shows altar servers inside church premises forcing a cat to drink what witnesses claim was liquor during an incident that reportedly occurred on June 1. Equally disturbing are the statements that followed, including claims that being a sinner is acceptable because one can simply go to confession afterward.

If these allegations are true, then this incident reflects not only cruelty toward a defenseless animal but also a complete disregard for personal accountability. Confession is not a license to inflict harm. Remorse is not genuine when cruelty is treated as a joke.

Animals are living beings capable of fear, pain, and suffering. Deliberately subjecting a cat to distress for amusement is not a prank. It is not harmless fun. It is behavior that deserves serious scrutiny and accountability.

We call on the individuals involved, their families, church authorities, and relevant institutions to address this matter seriously and ensure that incidents of animal cruelty are never tolerated or excused.

Those who cannot show compassion to the most vulnerable among us should not be surprised when the public demands answers.

Animal cruelty is never entertainment. It is never justified. And it should never be ignored.

A town in Bataan recently constructed cages for its animal impounding facility. While efforts to establish an impounding area are welcome, compliance with animal welfare standards is not optional.

Based on our observations, the cages do not meet the minimum size requirements prescribed by the authorities. The enclosures appear too small to allow animals to stand, turn around, lie down comfortably, and express normal behaviorβ€”one of the fundamental principles protected under the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare.

Impounding animals is not a license to subject them to further suffering. Stray and abandoned animals deserve humane treatment while under government custody. Facilities intended for their care must be designed to protect their welfare, not compromise it.
We call on the concerned local government unit to immediately review the facility, consult the appropriate guidelines issued by the animal welfare authorities, and make the necessary corrections to ensure compliance with humane standards.

Animal welfare is measured not by the existence of an impounding facility, but by the conditions in which animals are kept. Small cages, inadequate space, and substandard housing have no place in a facility that claims to protect animals. Accountability and immediate corrective action are needed.

This is the story of Axle, an American Bully from Sadanga, Mountain Province.

His "offense"? He allegedly urinated on a man's foot.

Because of an old belief that being urinated on by a dog brings bad luck, Axle's life was taken. The assailant reportedly informed Axle's owner of what he intended to do, and a relative of the owner allegedly gave permission for the act to proceed.

Afterward, the owner allegedly accepted a β‚±100,000 settlement from the assailant and chose not to pursue a criminal complaint.

Fortunately, a local animal welfare organization refused to let the case die there and proceeded with filing charges.

Months later, after a long period of silence, the organization announced that the suspect had been found guilty. The penalty? A β‚±100,000 fine.

No details were provided regarding any jail time.

So the question remains:

What message does this send?

That an innocent dog's life is worth only β‚±100,000?

That superstition can be used to justify cruelty?

That those who kill animals can simply pay a fine and move on with their lives?

Axle lost everything because of an outdated belief. He never got justice in the way justice should be served. And for many animal advocates, this outcome raises a painful question: if this is the consequence for taking a life so brutally and senselessly, what deterrent is left for the next person who decides to do the same?

Axle deserved better.

That suffering did not happen in a vacuum.
It exists because people continue to pay for animal rides, animal attractions, and animal-based entertainment.

The most immediate thing you can do to help these animals is simple:
Stop funding their abuse.

Every ticket purchased, every ride taken, and every tourist photo sends a message that exploiting animals is profitable.

The horse is beaten because it is expected to work.
It is expected to work because customers are waiting.

And customers are waiting because society continues to normalize paying for the labor of animals who have no choice in the matter.

If witnessing cruelty upsets you, do not support the industry that creates the conditions for it.
The hand that strikes the animal is guilty. But so is the system that profits from its suffering.

And that system survives because people keep paying for it.

Stop paying for their suffering.

A cow cried after being sold.
And people called it β€œdramatic,” β€œfunny,” or β€œjust an animal.”

But maybe that moment says more than we want to admit.

Farmed animals are often treated as mere commodities β€” priced, traded, slaughtered, and consumed like products on a shelf. Yet behind every β€œlivestock” label is a living being capable of fear, stress, attachment, and suffering.

They may not speak our language, but they feel.
They recognize people. They form bonds. They panic when separated. They fight to stay alive.

Sentience should not only matter when the animal is cute, domesticated, or convenient to love.

Sometimes, the saddest part is not that animals suffer β€” but that society has normalized ignoring it.

This barbarity is too much, hindi na nakuntento sa violence over farmed animals, pati mga pusa pinatay at kinain pa.

A man allegedly slaughtered three cats and ate their hearts after claiming that God allowed him to eat any kind of animal. What happened was not survival, culture, or necessity β€” it was cruelty and violence inflicted upon vulnerable living beings.

This case reflects a dangerous mindset that treats animals as disposable lives that can simply be harmed, killed, or consumed without empathy. When society continuously normalizes violence against animals, whether farmed animals or companion animals, it creates an environment where brutality becomes easier to justify.
